2022 Giants Live World Tour Finals Results — Mitchell Hooper’s Winning Streak Continues

Hooper is closing out the 2022 season hot with two wins heading into the 2022 Rogue Invitational

Mitchell Hooper seems unstoppable. The strongman is new to the competitive pro scene in 2022 and has been heating up since his international contest debut at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest. Following up on his 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) UK victory at the tail end of September, Hooper scored another contest victory at the 2022 Giants Live World Tour Finals on Oct. 8, 2022, at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

The victory marks the first Giants Live contest win of Hooper’s career. Check out the final results below:

  1. Mitchell Hooper (CAN) — 52 points
  2. Aivars Šmaukstelis (LAT) — 47.5 points
  3. Kevin Faires (USA) — 46 points
  4. Pavlo Nakonechnyy (UKR) — 40 points
  5. Pavlo Kordiyaka (UKR) — 38 points
  6. Rauno Heinla (EST) — 29 points
  7. Paul Smith (UK) — 28.5 points
  8. Pa O’Dwyer (IRE) — 27 points
  9. Eddie Williams (AUS) — 23 points
  10. Mark Felix (UK) — 19 points
  11. Andy Black (UK) — 19 points
  12. Louis Jack (UK) — 19 points

The single-day contest featured five events: the Nicol Stones, Carry & Drag, Axle Deadlift, Dumbbell Press, and Power Stairs. Individual event results can be seen below:

Nicol Stones

As with all Nicol Stone events, the two stones were of uneven weight — 114 kilograms and 139 kilograms. The athletes attempted to walk the uneven stones for maximum distance. Faires, who holds the world record in the event, proved his prowess with the event win, 2.5 meters further than runner-up Hooper.

Carry & Drag

The Carry & Drag event had a one-minute time cap for athletes to carry a 125-kilogram anchor and drag a 350-kilogram chain across the 40-meter course. Hooper’s notorious speed was on display as he scored his first event win of the contest to jump into the overall lead that he would ultimately leave Scotland with. Kordiyaka, another athlete with boast-worthy agility, took second less than a second behind Hooper.

  8. Rauno Heinla — 28.57 seconds
  9. Louis Jack — 28.84 seconds

  12. Mark Felix — 40.40 seconds

Axle Deadlift

The Axle Deadlift event was for reps with 350 kilograms. Each athlete attempted to lock out that weight as many times as possible in the one-minute time cap. Nakonechnyy beasted his way to an impressive 11 reps for the event win, with deadlift specialist Heinla and Hooper coming in second with nine reps and third with seven reps, respectively.

  4. Kevin Faires — Six reps (T-fourth)
  5. Aivars Šmaukstelis — Six reps (T-fourth)

  7. Pavlo Kordiyaka — Five reps (T-seventh)
  8. Pa O’Dwyer — Five reps (T-seventh)
  9. Paul Smith — Four reps (T-ninth)
  10. Eddie Williams — Four reps (T-ninth)
  11. Andy Black — Four reps (T-ninth)
  12. Louis Jack — Two reps

Dumbbell Press

The Dumbbell Press event featured a 100-kilogram dumbbell. Each athlete had the opportunity to clean and press the dumbbell overhead for as many reps as possible in a 60-second time cap. Šmaukstelis was consistent across the board all contest and finally scored an event win with seven reps, tied with Kordiyaka. Hooper claimed third-place points at one rep shy of the leaders.

  8. Rauno Heinla — Two reps (T-eighth)
  9. Eddie Williams — Two reps (T-eighth)
  10. Louis Jack — Two reps (T-eighth)
  11. Mark Felix — No reps
  12. Andy Black — No reps

Power Stairs

With 60 seconds on the clock, each athlete attempted to load five implements up three stairs. The five objects weighed 200, 210, 225, 240, and 250 kilograms. Athletes were scored by how many total steps of the 15 they reached, and ties were broken based on time.

  2. Pavlo Nakonechnyy — 15 in 38.81 seconds
  3. Kevin Faires — 15 in 39.50 seconds
  4. Mitchell Hooper — 15 in 42.08 seconds

  6. Eddie Williams — 15 in 46.90 seconds
  7. Rauno Heinla — 15 in 51.28 seconds
  8. Mark Felix — 13 in 57.78 seconds
  9. Andy Black — 12 in 50.78 seconds
  10. Pa O’Dwyer — 12 in 59.78 seconds
  11. Louis Jack — Nine in 26.64 seconds
  12. Paul Smith — Nine in 47.54 seconds
