2022 Strongest Man in Iceland Results — Kristján Jón Haraldsson Victorious

Twelve strongmen competed in six events over two days to determine the strongest man in Iceland.

From June 11-12, 2022, 12 of the top strongmen in Iceland descended on Hafnarfjörður to determine who the strongest man in the country was. Over those two days, the strongmen competed in six events: Natural Loading Stone, Weight Throw, Deadlift, Truck Pull, Block Press, and a Duck and Farmer’s Walk Medley. When all was said and done, Kristján Jón Haraldsson emerged victorious by a 12-point margin to claim the 2022 Strongest Man in Iceland (SMiI) title.

According to Strongman Archives, the 2022 SMiI is Haraldsson’s first elite contest win in his seven sanctioned event appearances. He previously competed in the 2018 and 2019 SMiI contests to fifth and fourth-place overall rankings, respectively. Here are the full results from the 2022 SMiI contest:

2022 Strongest Man in Iceland

  1. Kristján Jón Haraldsson — 69.5 points
  2. Vilius Jokužys — 57.5 points
  3. Theodór Már Gudmundsson — 57.5 points
  4. Kristján Níelsson — 57.5 points
  5. André Bachmann — 37.5 points
  6. Pálmi Guðfinnsson — 36.5 points
  7. Hilmar Örn Jónsson — 33.5 points
  8. Kristján Páll Árnason — 29.5 points
  9. Birgir Guðnason —  29 points
  10. Hannes Þorsteinsson — 23 points
  11. Stefán Karel Torfason — Nine points
  12. Ólafur Haukur Tómasson — Five points

Haraldsson was dominant throughout the contest, winning four of the six events and finishing as the runner-up in the other two. He scored 69.5 out of a possible 72 points.

  3. Pálmi Guðfinnsson — Three stones, 30.75 seconds
  4. Stefán Karel Torfason — Three stones, 31.75 seconds
  5. Theodór Már Gudmundsson — Three stones, 33.76 seconds
  6. André Bachmann — Three stones, 37.87 seconds
  7. Kristján Níelsson — Three stones, 40.21 seconds
  8. Hilmar Örn Jónsson — Three stones, 40.82 seconds
  9. Kristján Páll Árnason — Three stones, 66.70 seconds
  10. Birgir Guðnason —  Two stones, 29.96 seconds
  11. Hannes Þorsteinsson — Two stones, 36.58 seconds
  12. Ólafur Haukur Tómasson — One stone, 21.92 seconds

Torfason withdrew from the contest after this event. Tómasson remained in the contest but opted to not compete in three of the remaining five events.

  2. Kristján Jón Haraldsson — Six implements, 20.96 seconds
  3. Vilius Jokužys — Six implements, 41.85 seconds
