2023 England’s Strongest Man and Strongest Woman Results

Patrick Haynes and Naomi Hadley were victorious in Warrington, UK.

The 2023 England’s Strongest Man (ESM) and 2023 England’s Strongest Woman (ESW) contests were held on Aug. 27, 2023, in Warrington, UK. The contest featured 12 and eight of the country’s top strongmen and strongwomen, respectively. Patrick Haynes emerged victorious among the men, and Naomi Hadley stood atop the podium for the women.

Although the single-day contests were held in tandem, the events were not the same. The 2023 ESM featured the Húsafell Stone, Tyre Super Yoke, Kratos Bar Deadlift for Reps, Anvil Farmer’s Walk, and the Log Ladder. The 2023 ESW featured the Húsafell Stone, Block Press, Max Deadlift, Wolves Pit, and Farmer’s Walk. Below are the results for both contests:

2023 England’s Strongest Man Results

  1. Patrick Haynes — 46 points
  2. Andrew Flynn — 45 points
  3. Max Searby — 43 points
  4. Paul Smith — 38 points
  5. Phil Hawxwell — 35.5 points
  6. Jack Osborn — 30 points
  7. Lewis Packham — 28.5 points
  8. Tom Place — 27.5 points
  9. Josh Norton — 27 points
  10. Joe Oliver — 26.5 points
  11. Sam Ashton — 24 points
  12. Ricky Daly — 16 points

  5. Desi Gillespie — 21 points

2023 England’s Strongest Man Event Results

Below are the results for each of the five contest events in the men’s contest:

Húsafell Stone

The Húsafell Stone weighed 187 kilograms. Athletes had 75 seconds to carry it as far as possible.

  1. Patrick Haynes — 89.37 meters
  2. Andrew Flynn — 62.85 meters
  3. Tom Place — 60 meters
  4. Max Searby — 54.68 meters
  5. Lewis Packham — 54.2 meters
  6. Sam Ashton — 51.67 meters
  7. Phil Hawxwell — 45.85 meters
  8. Joe Oliver — 42.4 meters
  9. Josh Norton — 41.6 meters
  10. Ricky Daly — 38.9 meters
  11. Jack Osborn — 24.2 meters
  12. Paul Smith — 22.22 meters

Tyre Super Yoke

The yoke weighed 350 kilograms. Each strongman had to walk the yoke two lengths of the 20-meter course as fast as possible. They were allowed to drop the yoke at the turning point halfway.

  1. Jack Osborn — 33.77 seconds
  2. Patrick Haynes — 41.96 seconds
  3. Andrew Flynn — 34.19 seconds
  4. Phil Hawxwell — 66.23 seconds
  5. Max Searby — 67.54 seconds
  6. Paul Smith — 39.75 meters
  7. Josh Norton — 35.48 meters
  8. Sam Ashton — 34.35 meters
  9. Ricky Daly — 34.16 meters
  10. Lewis Packham — 33 meters
  11. Tom Place — 31.7 meters
  12. Joe Oliver — 22.32 meters

Kratos Bar Deadlift for Reps

Each athlete attempted to pull 320 kilograms for as many reps as possible in the 75-second time cap.

  1. Andrew Flynn — Nine reps
  2. Paul Smith — Eight reps
  3. Patrick Haynes — Seven reps
  4. Max Searby — Six reps
  5. Lewis Packham — Five reps (T-fifth)
  6. Joe Oliver — Five reps (T-fifth)
  7. Phil Hawxwell — Four reps (T-seventh)
  8. Tom Place — Four reps (T-seventh)
  9. Jack Osborn — Three reps
  10. Sam Ashton — One rep
  11. Josh Norton — no lift
  12. Ricky Daly — no lift

Anvil Farmer’s Walk

With 50 kilograms, each athlete traversed the 40-meter course in the fastest possible time.

  1. Patrick Haynes — 13.5 seconds
  2. Paul Smith — 13.56 seconds
  3. Joe Oliver — 14.82 seconds
  4. Phil Hawxwell — 21.43 seconds
  5. Sam Ashton — 21.83 seconds
  6. Andrew Flynn — 23.37 seconds
  7. Josh Norton — 29.29 seconds
  8. Max Searby — 34.43 seconds
  9. Ricky Daly — 47.73 seconds
  10. Lewis Packham — 61.3 seconds
  11. Jack Osborn — 32.3 meters
  12. Tom Place — 31.33 meters

Log Ladder

The ladders for this event weighed 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 kilograms.

  1. Max Searby — Five in 46.52 seconds
  2. Josh Norton — Five in 64.28 seconds
  3. Jack Osborn — Five in 64.36 seconds
  4. Tom Place — Four in 29.21 seconds
  5. Paul Smith — Four in 31.99 seconds
  6. Lewis Packham — Four in 40.37 seconds
  7. Phil Hawxwell — Four in 40.98 seconds
  8. Ricky Daly — Four in 63.16 seconds
  9. Andrew Flynn — Three in 22.11 seconds

2023 England’s Strongest Woman Event Results

Below are the results for each of the five contest events in the women’s contest:

Húsafell Stone

The Húsafell Stone weighed 100 kilograms. Athletes had 75 seconds to carry it as fast as possible across two 20-meter lengths with a turn halfway.

  1. Naomi Hadley — 19.7 seconds
  2. Ashley Pinkney — 21.6 seconds
  3. Holly Ford — 21.94 seconds
  4. Rachel Greener — 22.88 seconds
  5. Desi Gillespie — 23.43 seconds
  6. Mollie Wagstaff — 31.65 seconds
  7. Lydia Woodhall — 33.9 seconds
  8. Jemma Featherstone — 28.4 meters

Block Press

This event was for reps with a 50-kilogram implement.

  1. Holly Ford — Five reps
  2. Jemma Featherstone — Four reps
  3. Ashley Pinkney — Three reps (T-third)
  4. Naomi Hadley — Three reps (T-third)
  5. Rachel Greener — One rep (T-fifth)
  6. Desi Gillespie — One rep (T-fifth)
  7. Lydia Woodhall — One rep (T-fifth)
  8. Mollie Wagstaff — no lift

Max Deadlift

The deadlift event was in progressively heavier rounds with the following weights: 140, 160, 180, 200, 210, 220, 230, and 240 kilograms.

  4. Desi Gillespie — 180 kilograms

Wolves Pit
