Kevin Hazeleger Triumphant at 2023 Strongman Champions League Poland

The Dutch strongman bested 11 other of the world's strongest athletes for the title.

The 2023 Strongman Champions League (SCL) Poland contest has ended, and Kevin Hazeleger of the Netherlands stood atop the podium. The single-day battle occurred on Aug. 26, 2023, in Sopot, Poland, and featured 12 strongmen representing eight countries.

Hazeleger scored 45 of a possible 60 points to score the gold through five events: Truck Push, Frame Carry, Bag Over Bar, Log Lift, and Power Stairs. The contest was extremely tight at the top of the leaderboard, as runner-up Oskar Ziółkowski finished just a half-point behind Hazeleger, and Adam Roszkowski scored bronze with 42 points.   1. Kevin Hazeleger (Netherlands) — 45 points
  2. Oskar Ziółkowski (Poland) — 44.5 points
  3. Adam Roszkowski (Poland) — 42 points
  4. Aivars Šmaukstelis (Latvia) — 36.5 points
  5. Mika Törrö (Finland) — 35.5 points
  6. Evans Aryee (Ghana) — 34.5 points
  7. Grzegorz Szymański (Poland) — 31.5 points
  8. Péter Juhász (Hungary) — 31 points
  9. Dawid Pakulski (Poland) — 30.5 points
  10. Kane Francis (UK) — 26.5 points
  11. Lucas Rogerio (Brazil) — 17.5 points

2023 Strongman Champions League Poland Event Results

Below are the results for each of the five events that comprised the 2023 SCL Poland contest:

Truck Push

The truck for this event weighed 15,000 kilograms. Each strongman had one minute to push the truck down a 20-meter course as fast as possible.

  1. Dawid Pakulski — 19.34 seconds
  2. Kane Francis — 21.25 seconds
  3. Kevin Hazeleger — 21.78 seconds
  4. Mika Törrö — 21.91 seconds
  5. Péter Juhász — 22.15 seconds
  6. Adam Roszkowski — 23.40 seconds
  7. Aivars Šmaukstelis — 23.81 seconds
  8. Evans Aryee — 23.91 seconds
  9. Lucas Rogerio — 25.13 seconds
  10. Oskar Ziółkowski — 25.37 seconds
  11. Louis Jack — 25.72 seconds
  12. Grzegorz Szymański — 27.04 seconds

Frame Carry

The frame weighed 340 kilograms, and the course was 40 meters long. The strongman who traversed the course the quickest won. Those who did not complete the course in the 60-second time cap were scored by distance.

  3. Grzegorz Szymański — 24.28 seconds
  4. Mika Törrö — 37.38 seconds
  5. Oskar Ziółkowski — 20.2 meters

  8. Aivars Šmaukstelis — 12.3 meters
  9. Lucas Rogerio — 12.2 meters
  10. Péter Juhász — 11 meters
  11. Adam Roszkowski — 10.9 meters
  12. Louis Jack — 7.8 meters

Bag Over Bar

The five implements used for this event weighed from 20 to 28 kilograms. The height of the bar was 4.7 meters.

  1. Adam Roszkowski — Five in 15.05 seconds
  2. Oskar Ziółkowski — Five in 16.26 seconds
  3. Aivars Šmaukstelis — Five in 34.22 seconds
  4. Louis Jack — Four in 12.75 seconds
  5. Mika Törrö — Four in 14.30 seconds
  6. Kevin Hazeleger — Four in 16.32 seconds
  7. Péter Juhász — Four in 30.35 seconds
  8. Dawid Pakulski — Four in 32.95 seconds
  9. Evans Aryee — Three in 11.01 seconds
  10. Kane Francis — Three in 17.36 seconds
  11. Grzegorz Szymański — Two in 15.14 seconds
  12. Lucas Rogerio — One in 7.02 seconds

Log Lift

The log weighed 150 kilograms. Athletes were tasked to lock out as many reps as possible in the 60-second time cap.

  1. Oskar Ziółkowski — Seven reps (T-first)
  2. Adam Roszkowski — Seven reps (T-first)
  3. Aivars Šmaukstelis — Six reps
  4. Evans Aryee — Five reps
  5. Kevin Hazeleger — Three reps (T-fifth)
  6. Grzegorz Szymański — Three reps (T-fifth)
  7. Péter Juhász — Three reps (T-fifth)
  8. Lucas Rogerio — Three reps (T-fifth)
  9. Dawid Pakulski — Two reps 
  10. Mika Törrö — One rep (T-10th)
  11. Kane Francis — One rep (T-10th)
  12. Louis Jack — One rep (T-10th)

Power Stairs

The final event featured three implements weighing 225, 250, and 275 kilograms. There were a total of 15 steps to scale with each implement. Athletes were given 90 seconds for their run.

  1. Grzegorz Szymański — 54 seconds
  2. Oskar Ziółkowski — 82 seconds
  3. Kevin Hazeleger — 12 stairs (T-third)
  4. Adam Roszkowski — 12 stairs (T-third)
  5. Mika Törrö — 10 stairs (T-fifth)
  6. Péter Juhász — 10 stairs (T-fifth)
  7. Aivars Šmaukstelis — Five stairs (T-seventh)
  8. Evans Aryee — Five stairs (T-seventh)
  9. Dawid Pakulski — Four stairs (T-ninth)
  10. Kane Francis — Four stairs (T-ninth)
  11. Lucas Rogerio — One stair
  12. Louis Jack — no lift
