Defending Rogue Strongman Invitational champion Mitchell Hooper was atop the leaderboard after the first two events thanks to back-to-back runner-up finishes. He knew the time to beat as the last to run in the Inver Challenge, event 3 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Each strongman took to the competition floor to lift five stones weighing 275, 300, 365, 400, and 420 pounds. The heat order mattered as Tom Stoltman’s time of just over 36 seconds was not enough to fend off Hafthor Björnsson’s sub-28-second run to score his second event win of the day.

2024 Rogue Strongman Invitational Inver Challenge Recap
Hoath was the first to the stones. He sped through the first three stones, showing no disruption from the big weight jump between the second and third stones. He failed his attempt on the fourth stone and couldn’t find a way through it after his forearms were carved up.
Kordiyaka was second to the stones. The first three stones went up quickly, but he took his time patting his arms before loading the fourth stone without issue. He lapped and loaded the fifth stone in identical fashion to the fourth to set the time to beat.
Luke Stoltman lifted third. He made quick work of the first three stones before catching his breath before stone four. He loaded that after dusting it off to help his grip. He couldn’t find a grip on stone five and the clock ran out.
Thompson ran fourth. He tossed up the first two stones, lapped and loaded the third, and then took a beat before the 400-pounder. He was unable to find a grip and waved off to the crowd right before the time cap eclipsed.
“King of the Stones” Tom Stoltman was the midpoint athlete in the event. He one-motioned the first three stones before lapping the fourth and loading the fifth in just over 36 seconds for the lead.
Björnsson ran sixth after a first and last-place finish through the first two events. He smoked the entire event with a blazing-fast time of 27.34 seconds.
Ragg followed Björnsson with a much more methodic approach of lapping each stone before loading them to their respective barrels. He cleared the first three stones without issue before failing two attempts on the fourth stone and waving off.
Singleton lifted in the eighth heat. 365 pounds was no issue for “T-Rex.” He caught the lip of the barrel on the fourth stone but safely placed it. He took a lot of time in his prep for the fifth stone but it slipped on his first attempt. With 15 seconds left on the clock, he waved off.
Evans ran the penultimate heat. The first two stones were slow but find before he appeared to injure himself on the third stone. He risked nothing and waved off almost immediately thereafter.
Hooper knew Björnsson’s run was the time to beat. Hooper’s run was flawless. While not quite fast enough to beat Björnsson, it was enough to best Tom Stoltman
