The kickoff event of the debut for strongwoman competition at the 2024 Rogue Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, was the Deadlift Ladder. Each of the 10 competitors were tasked with establishing their max deadlift; they were each given three attempts.

History will remember Lucy Underdown as the first strongwoman to claim a Rogue Invitational event win as she bolstered a 785-pound pull.

Deadlift Ladder Recap

Linzay was the first to take the floor and cleared 505 pounds easily to warm up the crowd. Belliveau followed and matched Linzay’s lift.

The 44-year-old, three-time World’s Strongest Woman (WSW) Donna Moore pulled a 525-pound opener in a mixed grip without a lifting belt. Peacock confidently achieved her 525-pound opener.

Belliveau failed at 525 pounds, but Linzay locked it out. “You know you love it!” Linzay roared at the camera regarding the blood streaming from her nose post-lift. Belliveau took her third and final attempt at 525 pounds but missed.

Jardine entered for her opening 545-pound pull. It was easy work. Moore’s second and attempt at 545 moved but missed; her third attempt did not move. Peacock made it without issue, and Linzay went three-for-three in attempts to close at 545 pounds.

Liashchuck, Roberts, and Carrasquillo converted their 565-pound openers. Jardine’s second attempt counted 565 pounds — exceeding her top lift from the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic by five pounds. Peacock successfully converted her third attempt at 565.

Thompson finally reached the lifting platform to achieve her 585-pound opener and got a “wow” from the commentary team. Roberts attempted Thompson’s opener but failed to get it past the knees. Carrasquillo demolished 585 pounds; her training preparation was paying off.

Jardine hit a career-best 585 on her final attempt. Roberts failed it to finish at 565. Liashchuck was the first athlete to eclipse the 600-pound milestone at 605 on her second attempt, which looked smooth. Carrasquillo finished with a perfect run, grinding through 605 pounds.

Underdown made 625 pounds look like a warm-up, and it was clear that her deadlifting was a league above the rest of the field. Thompson took her second attempt at 625 and applied some pressure to Underdown.

Liashchuck accepted the bronze in the event by locking out 625 pounds. Underdown’s second attempt involved a forty-pound leap to 665 pounds; she smiled at the top.

Thompson kept the pressure on Underdown as she achieved 665 pounds with some gas still left in the tank. Underdown closed at 685 pounds for the event win.
