2024 Rogue Strongman Invitational Power Drive Recap
Hoath and Kordiyaka were first to the floor, running in heat one. The Ukrainian was faster than the Canadian through the first two implements but slowed slightly on the sled pull, where Hoath made up some time. However, Kordiyaka finished within the time cap while Hoath couldn’t beat the clock.
Thompson and Luke Stoltman ran in heat two. They synced the power drive before Stoltman pulled ahead in the Husafell. Stoltman maintained a consistent pace but couldn’t finish within the time cap. Thompson was not too far behind when the heat closed but couldn’t finish before the buzzer.
Ragg and Evans ran in heat three. At the conclusion of day one, Evans appeared to sustain a slight injury but was recovered enough to continue the competition. However, that injury reared its head as Evans could not lift the Husafell and tapped out of the event to cheer on Ragg, who wasn’t near the finish with the sled before time was called.
Tom Stoltman and Singleton ran the penultimate heat. Stoltman leveraged his size and reached the power sled by the half-minute mark. Singleton was well behind Stoltman’s pace but still appeared to finish the event. Stoltman’s time of 1:04.81 the mark to beat.
Hooper and Björnsson ran the final heat and had the advantage of knowing the time to beat. A cardio event like this certainly favored Hooper, who exerted his speed advantage to get to the sled. Björnsson’s power overtook the lead to take second in the event behind Stoltman. Hooper slowed in the final stretch and settled for bronze in the event.
