After two events on day one of the 2024 Rogue Strongwoman Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, Inez Carrasquillo proved to be the breakout star, scoring an event win in the Grip and Rip event. However, two-time World’s Strongest Woman Andrea Thompson held the lead with back-to-back runner-up finishes, including a personal best deadlift, heading into the Inver Challenge.

To close day the first day of competition, athletes were challenged to lift five stones weighing 200, 225, 250, 275, and 300 pounds without the use of tacky.

Carrasquillo appeared in the best shape of her career, scoring the top time by 17 seconds over runner-up Angelica Jardine.

2024 Rogue Strongwoman Invitational Inver Challenge Recap

Belliveau was first to the floor and sped through the first three stones without any challenge. However, the 275-pound fourth stone caused her issue with how to properly grip it. Multiple attempts yielded no success and if barely left the floor by the time the time cap was reached.

Moore was second to the competition floor. She lapped and loaded the first three stones with some difficulty. The fourth stone caused issue, as she missed two attempts. The third attempt was clean and loaded successfully to take the lead over Belliveau. Moore made a single missed attempt at the fifth stone before waving off to the crowd.

Roberts entered as the third to lift. Her height was an advantage as she did not appear to struggle with any of the stones aside from a slip on stone four. She converted the fifth stone and began celebrating rather than tapping the buzzer to stop the clock, costing her several additional seconds.

Linzay looked to be all business as her name was called as the fourth to lift. The first two stones were easy. The third stone had a slight hiccup. The fourth stone was a challenge that required Linzay to regrip. The fifth stone wasn’t doable.

Peacock lifted fifth. She tossed the first three stones around, comfortable with the awkward shapes. She needed time to solve how to lift the fourth stone but couldn’t find a grip, though the weight didn’t seem to be an issue.

Jardine ran sixth and Laurence Shahlaei on commentary was excited to see what she could do. She blazed through the first four stones without any problems. The fifth stone was a face-off that required several attempts, but she overcame and slammed the buzzer within a minute.

Underdown competed seventh after first and last-place finishes through events one and two, respectively. A brisk pace through four stones gave her a change for the lead, but grip struggles on the final two stones caused problems. She tried to get under the fourth and fifth stone rather than driving it up with the hips, preventing her from loading the fifth stone before the time cap.

2022 WSW Liashchuck lifted eighth. She was slower through the early stones but her technique was sharp. She lapped and loaded stone four by the time Jardine’s top time was safe. However, Liashchuck completed all five stones to stay toward the top of the leaderboard.

Carrasquillo ran the penultimate heat. The weight of the first four stones looked like training weights. The fifth stone was a display of exquisite technique to claim the lead in the event with a time of 34 seconds.

Thompson knew the time to beat. She was slow and steady through the first three stones, accepting that she wouldn’t win the event. Contending with the fourth stone, she lapped it twice and dropped it both times before waving off.
