How to Qualify
To be eligible for this event, lifters had to meet the criteria. The competitors had to clear four rounds of qualifying.
The top-performing athletes from the 2024 IPF World Classic Championships were ranked on their total and percentage of the world record total, up to a maximum of 10 male lifters and 10 female lifters, earning qualification to step onto the platform at Sheffield. Four wild card invites were then awarded, two male and two female lifters.
Every lifter in this meet can lift incredible weights, but there are some athletes fans will likely pay extra attention to.
Tiffany Chapon
Tiffany Chapon is a four-time world champion. Her performance at the 2024 IPF World Classic Championships was a highlight of the event, breaking the all-time squat world record in the 47KGclass twice to a new record of 165.5 kilograms. The summary of her performance is below:
- Squat — 165.5 kilograms
- Bench Press — 97.5 kilograms
- Deadlift — 162.5 kilograms
- Total — 433 kilograms
Amanda Lawrence
Amanda Lawrence is looking to improve on her 11th-place finish in the 2024 edition of this meet. She has been locked in throughout her prep, including a recent deadlift session that featured her 250-kilogram double. She nearly got a third rep out of it. Lawrence usually competes in the 84KG category.
Gustav Hedlund
The 2024 Champion of Champions in Sheffield was Gustav Hedlund. The 93KG lifter racked up a total of 895 kilograms thanks to the following lifts:
- Squat — 325 kilograms
- Bench Press — 215 kilograms
- Deadlift — 355 kilograms
- Total — 895 kilograms
In late 2024, Hedlund was crowned world champion at the 2024 IPF World Classic Championships. This will be his first meet since claiming that world title.
Jesus Olivares
Jesus Olivares was the top male super-heavyweight lifter at the 2024 IPF World Classic Championships and is considered by many to be one of the best squatters in the world, regardless of category — he posted a five-rep set with 402.5 kilograms supported this during a training session in October 2024. Olivares is on the road to redemption at this meet after finishing 11th in 2024.
