2025 TYR Wodapalooza Day 3 Recap: Noah Ohlsen, Travis Mayer, and Chandler Smith Lead in Miami

Former CrossFit Games champs and other top-tier athletes took to the competition floor in Miami.

Not to be outdone by the ladies on Saturday at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza, the men put on a show of their own with plenty of powerhouse teams.

As the sun warmed up the barbells on the Dymatize Lifting Stage, the guys took to the platforms with a lovely Miami Breeze blowing through the venue.

Check out our live 2025 TYR Wodapalooza leaderboard for real-time event coverage all weekend long!

Remind Me: The Elite Team Division at TYR Wodapalooza was seeded with Apollo Performance’s strength rankings.

  • These rankings are based on the individuals collectively on the team and their overall performance in individual competition, combining them.

Day 3 Recap

Event 1: Overhead Squat

For Time:

  • 30 Overhead Squats, 205/145 pounds
  • 20 Overhead Squats, 245/175 pounds
  • 10 Overhead Squats, 275/195 pounds

Time Cap: 8 minutes

The earlier heats shined bright, with Invictus Miami (Carlos Labarthe, Phill Muscarella, and Roldan Goldbaum) putting up the time to beat in the first heat at just under four minutes.

However, that time did not last long.

Los Campesinos (Simon Gelinas, Felix-Antoine Lemay, and Andre-Felix Martin) and Team We Step on Legos (Cameron Doyle, Noah Wilson, and Tom Sleigh) went rep for rep, with Legos edging out Los Campesinos by close to one second.

  • Some familiar faces graced the teams in the final heat, with two CrossFit Games champions, Jeff Adler (Team PJ’s with Patrick Vellner and Jayson Hopper) and Justin Medeiros (Team GOWOD with Dallin Pepper and Willy Georges).

The final heat had multiple teams, with athletes showing off incredible overhead stability and strength, cycling through huge chunks of heavy reps.

  • Gui Malheiros from Team Mayhem Tres Leches (with Saxon Panchik and Jorge Panchik) snatched the first rep on the final bar but dropped the bar with only one rep remaining, allowing Justin Medeiros and Team GOWOD to sneak up.

It wasn’t enough, though, as Mayhem pulled off the Event 1 win.

Event 1 Results

  1. Mayhem Tres Leches (2:41.48)
  2. Team GoWod (2:47.15)
  3. The Boys (2:54.00)

Event 2: Block Party

3 Rounds For Time:

  • team block carry and sled drag
  • 27 bar muscle-ups
  • team block carry and sled drag
  • 27 synchro burpees

Time Cap: 14 minutes

After watching the women work together in this transition-heavy event, the men took to the Reign Sandbox.

It was crowded for the men on the synchro burpees over the box, but that was no issue for Invictus Miami, who won the first heat of two.

The final heat of men seemed to learn by watching other athletes navigate the equipment, and transitions were slightly more streamlined.

  • It was a three-horse race for most of the final heat, with The Boys (Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer), Team GOWOD, and Mayhem Tres Leches going blow for blow.

It was a race to the finish mat, with The Boys (Ohlsen, Smith, and Mayer) taking the win.

Team captain Noah Ohlsen spoke after the event about what helped this team succeed:

  • “These guys are my best buddies…and we have built a really strong relationship over the last decade of doing this stuff together, and so I think that’s actually our biggest strength,” he told sideline reporter Bella Martin.

Event 2 Results

  1. The Boys (10:00.33)
  2. PJ’s (10:10.57)
  3. Team GOWOD (10:10.64)

Event 3: Worm Up, Hands Down

For Time:

  • 15 worm clean and jerks
  • 20/15 cal Echo Bike each, all 3 athletes at same time
  • relay 2×15-meter handstand walk
  • 20/15 cal Echo Bike each, all 3 athletes at same time
  • 15 worm clean and jerks

Time Cap: 14 minutes

If it seemed like the ladies’ teams were fast, the men really had their foot on the gas.

Teamwork was paramount, as several teams in earlier heats lost valuable time on the worm due to confusion.

  • Like their female counterparts, The Norwegian Kriger Boys (Benjamin Boujar, Andreas Timenes, and Andreas Opsahl) put up a blistering time in an earlier heat that left teams chasing.

Although Team Overskag won the second heat, it was not fast enough to beat Kriger.

  • Team Sweden (Alexander Elebro, Philip Lundovist, and Victor Ljungdal), in heat three, was the first team to go touch-and-go on the worm clean and jerks, and it ultimately paid off with a heat win.

Team GOWOD followed suit and also went touch-and-go on their worm clean and jerks; however, it did not prove as fruitful, and they were not first to the Echo bike.

  • The Sculpted Scholars (Jack Farlow, Benoît Boulanger, and Tudor Magda) and The Boys jumped on the bike for the final time almost simultaneously.

The Boys pulled out the touch-and-go on the worm, completely unbroken, and won their second event of the day.

Event 3 Results

  1. The Boys (5:16.82)
  2. Sculpted Scholars (5:18.03)
  3. PJ’s (5:33.31)

The Big Picture

At the halfway point, The Boys are back, boasting two first-place finishes on Saturday, giving them 294 points heading into the final day of competition. It is a close race behind them, with Mayhem Tres Leches 14 points back (282) and Team GOWOD and PJ’s tied at 276.

Get ready for three events on Sunday and what will no doubt be some incredibly close races.
