Less than twelve hours after releasing Workout 1, Dave Castro has released the second CrossFit® Regionals event. The Regional competitions are taking place over the span of three weekends, which start May 19th and end June 4th. The first event will be shared at the bottom of this article, and the second event can be seen directly below.
(This is true for the Individuals; the Games squad hasn’t announced any workouts for the Teams just yet, so no word on whether it will be a modified version of the below or something completely different.)
For time, 21-15-9 reps of:
Dumbbell Snatch (80 lbs for men, and 55 lbs for women)
Ring Dips

We’re still unsure if this is the final event of day one, but we’re speculating that it isn’t due to its quick nature. This event is much shorter than it predecessor, so it’s not unreasonable to hypothesize if Castro will drop a third event in the near future.
The first event, which was shared last night is posted below.
For time: (athletes wear a weighted 5.11 Tactical Vest for the workout)
Run 1200 Meters
Then, 12 Rounds:
4 Strict Handstand Push-ups
8 Chest to bar Pull-ups
12 Air Squats
The 2017 CrossFit Open surprised everyone with multiple dumbbell workouts – and in true Castro fashion – dumbbells have made their way back into the Regionals workouts. It’s surprising that Castro capped the dumbbell weights at 80 and 55 lbs.
In this year’s Open, we saw barbell snatches get as heavy as 275 lbs, so we’d think with the level of competition at Regionals they’d be a little heavier. That in mind, we’re hypothesizing that Castro has a third and possibly heavier event for the first day, but then again, that’s just our guess.
This second announcement came at a much faster rate than we originally estimated, so it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to try and guess when Castro will drop future Regionals hints. Regardless, we have the first two events, and individual competitors can begin prepping.
