Burns — the American record holder in the snatch at 173kg — finished with a 169kg snatch and 197kg clean & jerk for first place overall. His three medals score valuable points for Team USA, as this year’s Pan American Championships opens qualification period for the 2019 Pan American Games, set to be held in Lima, Peru.
Burns’ performance adds to an already-impressive medal count for USA Weightlifting, which had six athletes win 12 medals in the first three days of competition.
Team USA’s Nathan Damron finished with a 150kg snatch and 193kg clean & jerk.
