We’re another week closer to the exciting CrossFit Open announcements and workouts. Over the weekend, CrossFit HQ confirmed the official venue locations for each Open workout’s announcement, and late yesterday they announced which athletes would be competing against each other to kick off each week’s workout. Check out the five workout announcement venue locations below.
- CrossFit Open Week 1 (18.1): February 22nd: Ginasio Poliesportivo Dr. Antonio Leme Nunes Galvao (Morumbi Stadium), São Paulo, Brazil
- CrossFit Open Week 2 (18.2): March 1st: CrossFit R.A.W., Gibsonia, Pennsylvania
- CrossFit Open Week 3 (18.3): March 8th: Skyline CrossFit, Houston, Texas
- CrossFit Open Week 4 (18.4): March 15th: CrossFit Fury, Goodyear, Arizona

If you’re new to the CrossFit Open, then every year at each week’s workout announcement Dave Castro pits top athletes against each other in head-to-head contests. These are the first athletes to officially go through a workout once it’s publicized.

CrossFit Open Week 1 (18.1) – Samantha Briggs Vs. Kristin Holte
The first week will kick off with 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games Champion Samantha Briggs taking on 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games 7th place finisher Kristin Holte.
CrossFit Open Week 2 (18.2) – Patrick Vellner Vs. Noah Ohlsen
This is going to be an intense week, as Patrick Vellner took home third at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games, while Noah Ohlsen finished one spot behind him in fourth.
CrossFit Open Week 3 (18.3) – Kyle Kasperbaur Vs. Neal Maddox
Kyle Kasperbauer (35) and Neal Maddox (40) are both veteran CrossFit athletes and have competed in multiple Reebok CrossFit Games. They’ll be representing the Masters division. Also, this week is sponsored by Assault Fitness; could we be seeing an Assault Air Bike in this workout?
CrossFit Open Week 4 (18.4) – Björgvin Karl Gudmundsson vs. Scott Panchik
Similar to Vellner and Ohlsen, Gumundsson and Panchik seem very evenly matched. Gudmundsoon took home fifth at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games, while Panchik took home sixth, one spot behind him.
CrossFit Open Week 5 (18.5) – Annie Thorisdottir vs. Sara Sigmundsdottir vs. Katrin Davidsdottir
