It’s that time already: the 2018 season of the Reebok CrossFit® Games is about to kick off. On Thursday, February 22, at 5pm Pacific Standard Time (8pm Eastern Standard Time), the Director of the CrossFit Games Dave Castro will announce the first workout of the season.

There are two ways you can watch each announcement go down: first, you can head to the official Facebook page of the Reebok CrossFit Games where Castro’s announcements will be streamed on Facebook Live. If you have a smart TV like an Apple, Android, or Amazon Fire, you can watch the events on the Facebook video app.
For those of you who have had trouble streaming announcements on Facebook Live before, you’ll be glad to know that you can also head to Games.CrossFit.com and watch the announcement there. It won’t be streaming on YouTube this year.
Castro will be traveling all over the world as the Open workouts are announced and for 18.1, he’ll be broadcasting live from São Paulo, Brazil.
The workout for 18.1 will be announced at Ginasio Poliesportivo Dr. Antonio Leme Nunes Galvao, also called Morumbi Stadium, and we’ll then get to watch two world class CrossFit® athletes perform the workout. This year it’s 2013 Games champion Sam Briggs competing against 2017 seventh-place Games finisher Kristin Holte. There will also be two local Brazilian CrossFit® athletes competing. Tickets for the event sold out weeks ago, so the crowd should be pumped.
Remember: 5pm PST is when the announcement is happening, but if you tune in 15 minutes earlier you’ll be able to watch the pre-show.
Open announcements will be held every Thursday for the next four weeks for five announcements total. The next one will be made from Pennsylvania, where Patrick Vellner and Noah Ohlsen will face off, then Texas (Kyle Kasperbauer vs. Neal Maddox), Arizona (Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson vs. Scott Panchik), and finally a battle of Icelandic athletes in Reykjavik, Iceland, with Annie Thorisdottir vs. Sara Sigmundsdottir vs. Katrin Davidsdottir on March 22.
