Trust, Commitment, and Lab Management – An Interview With Cooper Marsh

Get an inside look at one of CrossFit's most prominent agencies.

Individuals and brands seeking to thrive in the fitness space have a handful of choices when it comes to representation — and one of the most exciting is Lab Management, an agency owned by Jason St. Claire, Cooper Marsh, Daniel Robbins, and Matt O’Keefe.

Though still a young company, Lab Management is growing rapidly and represents a mix of newcomers, veterans, and legacy athletes in the CrossFit space.

  • At the TYR Wodapalooza SoCal last month, five of the eight individuals competing in the TYR Cup on Team North America were (and still are) among the ever-expanding Lab roster.
  • Lab also represents Anikha Greer and Jayson Hopper, who competed at the Reps Ahead Pro 4 on the TYR WZA stage that same weekend.

Lab Management’s Personal Touch

We got a chance to talk with Lab Management co-owner Cooper Marsh on-site at the Huntington Beach event, and he started by acknowledging that he’s in good company when it comes to his peers in the space.

  • “We have a very good crop of people. There’s such amazing representation out here…with [Snori Barron’s Bakland Management] and [Strength in Numbers]; they’re doing amazing things,” Marsh told Morning Chalk Up.

Though there will always be competition in the industry, the list of Lab athletes continues to swell, likely because of the blurred lines between clients and friends.

  • While chatting over breakfast plates before Day 2 of the TYR Cup, Marsh laughed with clients Danielle Brandon and Dallin Pepper, sharing self-deprecating stories and checking to see what they’ll need throughout the day.

Marsh’s care for his clients and his investment in their well-being is palpable, and it’s partly this commitment and trust that has led to Lab’s success.

Lab Management Roster

Ty Jenkins and RJ Mestre are two up-and-comers who have already made waves on the CrossFit roster this year.

  • Jenkins, from Branston, MO, dominated the teenage division, becoming a three-time champion from 2021-2023 across two age divisions before he aged out.

Last spring, Jenkins was in contention to compete at the North America East Semifinal but was knocked below the cutline due to Quarterfinals penalties.

Still, he never missed a beat. He continued his training, joined the Demo Team for the Teenage CrossFit Games, and signed a contract with Adidas.

  • If Jenkins qualifies for the Games in 2025, he will tie with fellow former teen athlete Gui Malheiros as making the quickest jump from teen competitor to individual.

Following in Jenkins’ footsteps, Mestre topped the Teenage CrossFit Games podium this year in the 16-17 division.

  • It was his second time as champion after winning the 14-15 division in 2022.

Mestre swept the season this year, with first-place finishes in each stage: Open, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Games.

Now a PRVN athlete, Mestre has aged out of the Teen Division and will compete as an individual in 2025.

In addition to Mestre and Jenkins, check out the rest of Lab’s CrossFit clients:

  • Mat Fraser
  • Pat Vellner
  • Justin Medeiros
  • Mal O’Brien
  • Annie Thorisdottir
  • Ellie Turner
  • Dallin Pepper
  • Alexis Raptis
  • Danielle Brandon
  • Josh Bridges
  • Emma Cary
  • Katrin Davidsdottir
  • Abbie Domit
  • Bethany Flores
  • Cole Sager
  • Fee Saghafi
  • Sydney Wells
  • Trista Smith
  • Anikha Greer
  • Christian Harris
  • Jayson Hopper
  • Bill Leahy
  • Jorge Fernandez
  • Nick Matthew
  • Amanda Barnhard
  • Hanna Black
  • Ty Jenkins
  • RJ Mestre
  • David Bradley

While the list of CrossFit clients is extensive, Lab represents huge names in other sports as well.

  • Weightlifter and Olympian Mattie Rogers, strongman Rob Kearney, golfer Scott Stallings, and MLB pitcher Josh Hader are all signed with the company.

In addition to individual athletes, Lab works with countless brands to help them find their footing, grow, and form relationships in the space so that they can flourish.

The Bottom Line

On the final night of TYR WZA SoCal, Marsh was beaming.

Wearing his custom jersey with all the Lab athlete names on the back, his pride in the company’s accomplishments was clear.

  • “It’s really special [that] we had them all out here,” Marsh said. “It’s rare that we have multiple athletes on a single team. It was epic, we loved it, it was a phenomenal competition… and experience for all of us.”

When asked what Marsh’s hope is for the upcoming season, he shared the following sentiment:

  • “For the CrossFit space, our plan is to do our part to ensure the athletes…have earning opportunities and that the brands that invest in the space find value in continuing to do so,” Marsh says.

He adds that this applies to both established fitness brands and non-endemic brands that Lab can help introduce to the community.

  • “Beyond that,” he shares, “we will continue to invest heavily into niche markets where we help build athletes’ brands and the sports they participate in.”
