Tia- Clair Toomey-Orr announced in a video on Tuesday, June 24, that she will compete at the 2025 CrossFit Games.
Remind me: The Australian CrossFit phenom qualified for the Games earlier this year with a win at the Torian Pro In-Person Qualifying Event. She did not immediately accept her invite to the Games, however, and left the window open for several weeks as to whether she would compete in Albany or not.
- “The time has finally come for me to make a decision on what I’m going to be doing, and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my career,” Toomey-Orr said in a quippish video.
Toomey’s relatively serious demeanor is quickly interrupted by PRVN CEO Nic Johnston, who informs her, “Tia, we only got 37 days until the Games; we gotta go.”
- Toomey-Orr responds: “This is gonna hurt like a motherf****r.”
Toomey-Orr is chasing her eighth title as the Fittest Woman on Earth. She signaled earlier this year she’d be stepping away from elite competition, but clearly not without a grand finale.
Toomey-Orr is also an active HYROX athlete, recently competing at the 2025 World Championships. She competed with her partner James Newbury, but pulled out of a second race later in the day due to health reasons.
The 2025 CrossFit Games begin on Friday, August 1, in Albany, NY.
