Still fresh off his victory at the 2016 World’s Strongest Man (his 4th overall), American strongman Brian Shaw seems to be having some fun with training, hanging out with 2015 CrossFit Games Champion Ben Smith and powerlifting legend Mark Bell at Bell’s Super Training gym. So naturally, they decided to challenge each other to some feats of strength and fitness — which meant putting the 430 pound Shaw to the test on the Concept 2 rower.
Shaw is also 6’8″, which we hear can be pretty advantageous when it comes to rowing.
Shaw took a crack at the 100 meter world record time on the Concept 2, and he came damn close — according to Concept 2’s World Records page, the fastest time in history belongs to American Ross Love. The Concept 2 page briefly listed Shaw as in a tie with Love, though they’ve since removed Shaw’s listing among their records.
Check out the video of Shaw’s 12.8 second row below, posted on Bell’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
Another, longer video, which gets up close and personal with the behemoth strength athlete during his epic row.
Of course, Shaw isn’t one to let records sit, as evidenced by his strongman records. Our bet is the big man goes for this one again in the near future, maybe with a little more prep and a whole lot of motivation to add to his already ridiculous resume of athletic feats.
