The Reykjavik CrossFit Championship wrapped up over the weekend, and some big names came out on top. On the men’s side, Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson won the event, however he had already punched his ticket to the 2019 CrossFit Games when he competed in the Open, so second place finisher Hinrik Ingi Oskarsson received the Games invite.
On the women’s side, Norwegian athlete Jacqueline Dahlstrom took home the victory, although similarly to Gudmundsson, she had also already earned her spot in the Games so Hanna Karlsson, who finished in fifth place, got an official invite to the Games. Team JST also won the The Reykjavik CrossFit Championship.

The Reykjavik CrossFit Championship was one of the 16 CrossFit Sanctionals and featured 10 scored events for individual men and women, and 11 scored events for teams.
Team JST earned their spot in the 2019 CrossFit Games with an impressive showing over the weekend led by CrossFit legend, Samantha Briggs.
Just this year alone, Briggs has won the Dubai CrossFit Championship and the Australia CrossFit Championship Sanctionals as an individual athlete, and now she can add another victory with Team JST. Invictus Boston finished in second place, followed by Sweden’s Superheroproject in third.
Jacqueline Dahlstrom came through on the final day to win the Reykjavik CrossFit Championship. Dahlstrom was able to pull ahead of young-up-and-comer Haley Adams, who was flying high after an impressive day two performance. Adams held the lead going into the final day, but Norway’s Dahlstrom dug deep and beat Adams for the top spot on the podium. Adams finished in second place and Anna Fragkou earned third. The top four finishers for the individual women all had previously earned spots to the 2019 CrossFit Games, so fifth place finisher Hanna Karlsson from Sweden got rewarded with a ticket this summer.
Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson won the men’s competition in his own home country. Gudmundsson already was crowned Iceland’s National Champion so had rightfully earned his spot to the Games, but a hometown win must have felt sweet all the same. Last year Gudmundsson finished in fifth place at the Games and is a five-time CrossFit Games competitor.
Hinrik Ingi Oskarsson picked up a second place finish and Will Mooarad earned the third spot.
As we continue to breeze through all of the Sanctionals, the CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin this summer will be here sooner than ever.
