Strongman Eddie Hall loves a good challenge. Almost every week we see the 2017 World’s Strongest Man taking on some a lot of food or taking on some crazy workout. This week, Hall decided to test his strength against the 2018 World’s Strongest Woman, Rhianon Lovelace.
Lovelace is the 2018 World’s Strongest Woman in the -64kg weight class and regularly deadlifts over quadruple her bodyweight. She pulled 260kg at the Irish Muscle Power Expo this past June. Hall clearly respects the heck out of her, strongly emphasizing how impressive her strength is in the video: “She can deadlift four times her bodyweight!”
In the video the two went head-to-head through various strength exercises:
- Bench press
- Deadlift
- Squat
- Viking Press
- Yoke
- Hanging
Of course, every exercise was scaled to bodyweight: Hall is weighing around 170kg, and Lovelace competes as -64kg athlete. Here’s how it shook out.
The Results
- Bench press bodyweight for reps
Results: Lovelace: 27 reps, Hall: 18 reps
Winner: Lovelace
- Deadlift (60 seconds) Hall will be pulling 250kg, and Lovelace will be pulling 100kg
Results: Lovelace: 28 reps, Hall: 11 reps
Winner: Lovelace
- Squat (60 seconds) Hall squatted 170kg, and Lovelace squatted 70kg
Results: Lovelace: 40 reps, Hall 18 reps
Winner: Lovelace
- Viking press (60 seconds at bodyweight)
Results: Lovelace: 18 reps, Hall: 40 reps
Winner: Hall
- Yoke (Hall has 340 kg, Lovelace has 120kg)
Winner: Lovelace
- Hanging (bodyweight) for time
Results: Lovelace: 1:56, Hall 1:23
Winner: Lovelace
So, out of the six exercises on the day, Lovelace absolutely smoked Hall. She ended up winning five out of the six events! Pound for pound, Lovelace is stronger than the former World’s Strongest Man.
We just became even more excited to see Lovelace compete next.
