Annie Thorisdottir Improved Her CrossFit Open 20.3 Score By Almost a Minute

Annie Thorisdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir battled through 20.3 together!

Once again, Icelandic CrossFit Games athletes Annie Thorisdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir shared a video of themselves taking on the weekly CrossFit Open workout. On Friday, they took on Open Workout 20.3.

For a quick refresher, here’s what the third workout of the 2020 Open season is.

CrossFit Open Workout 20.3

The following for time with a 9 minute time cap:

21-15-9

Deadlifts (225/155)
Handstand Push-ups

then

21-15-9

Deadlifts (315/205)
50 Foot Handstand Walks (25 feet down, 25 feet back)

These two women are incredible training partners, and from what we’ve seen throughout this Open, they really know how to push one another. We also are loving that Thorisdottir has committed to making these videos throughout the 2020 Open because each week we get to see her attempts and listen to her tips!

After they completed 20.3, Thorisdottir said that she forgot how much she really liked this workout. 20.3 is a repeat from 18.4 so a lot of CrossFit athletes are familiar with the workout and movements — deadlifts and handstand work!

Thorisdottir finished 20.3 with a time of 5:40. In 2018, she finished 18.4 with a time of 6:34. Really cool to see her cut some serious time on her score!

“I really like handstand push-ups,” Thorisdottir said at 6:30 in the video. “On Monday I might do it again and try and hit my cycle speed a little bit more,” she said. She also mentioned that she might take more risks on the handstand push-ups for her next go. Could she improve her already improved score more?

As always, Thorisdottir gave a few great tips for all the athletes taking on 20.3. Here are a few of the best ones she gave at the end of the video!

  • Don’t get to carried away on Diane!
  • Don’t be afraid to lift up after your last nine handstand push-ups!
  • Be ready for that bar to feel heavier than you want it to feel.

Athletes everywhere are now off to the races tacking 20.3, and we’re excited to see how scores continue to trickle in and adjust over the next week.
