Agata Sitko (76KG) Eclipses Raw Total World Record in Training

Sitko currently holds the total world record at 613 kilograms.

Polish powerlifting phenom Agata Sitko has won pretty much everything she has turned her hand to so far. Still a Junior, Sitko has won the Open world title in classic and equipped categories and brought home a gold medal from the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama — the first Polish woman to do so in powerlifting. In 2024, Sitko also won the Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, netting £40,000 (approx. $52,500) in prize money.

Sitko broke the 76KG raw total world record at the 2024 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Classic World Championships (CWC) in Druskininkai, Lithuania, taking it from New Zealand’s Karlina Tongotea. Sitko set the record at 613 kilograms that day but, judging by her current training, it’s only a matter of time before she breaks it again.

On Oct. 1, 2024, Sitko posted to her Instagram page, wherein she set a raw training total of 615 kilograms, including two repetitions on the deadlift:

Sitko began her gargantuan SBD day with a 205-kilogram squat. It seems she intended for a double, but failed the second rep at the bottom. The first rep was strong though, and within five kilograms of her best-ever competition squat.

The bench press is undoubtedly Sitko’s best lift. She holds the Open world records for bench press in the 69KG, 76KG, and 84KG classes. In the 76KG class, where Sitko currently competes, the record stands at 155.5 kilograms.

Sitko loaded 160 kilograms for the bench press. The first rep looked comfortable, but once again, it seemed like Sitko sought a double. The second rep didn’t come off the chest, but the first exceeded the world record in the weight class above.

On the deadlift, Sitko finally scored a double at 250 kilograms. She set up in a sumo stance and took hold of the bar in a hook grip — her fingers trapping her thumb against the barbell. This grip is more secure and offers positional advantages that offset imbalances caused by the more common mixed grip.

The first repetition moved fast once Sitko broke it from the floor; this time, the second rep went all the way to lockout. She achieved a 615-kilogram training total, two kilograms over her current total world record.

Earlier in the year, Sitko talked about competing in the 84KG class at the 2024 IPF Equipped World Championships (EWC) in Iceland. As she lifted in the 69KG class at the 2024 Sheffield Championships and the 76KG class at the 2024 CWC, there was speculation that she could win three major championships in three different weight classes in one year. However, the roster is finalized for the EWC, and Sitko’s name does not appear.

It seems, therefore, that Sitko’s next meet will be the 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships in the UK, where she will attempt to become the first person to win the contest twice.
