Chance Mitchell (93KG) Sets IPF Raw Deadlift and Total World Records In Victory at 2022 IPF World Classic Championships

Jonathan Cayco broke his previous IPF raw bench press world record en route to the bronze medal in Sun City, South Africa.

In the Men’s 93-kilogram weight class at the 2022 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Classic Championships in Sun City, South Africa, all three powerlifters who reached the podium — Chance Mitchell, Emil Krastev, and Jonathan Cayco — exceeded the IPF raw total world record coming into the contest. The previous IPF total world record was 873 kilograms (1,924.6 pounds) by Cayco at the 2021 IPF World Classic Championships. Here are the full results:

2022 IPF World Classic Championships Results — Men’s 93KG

  1. Chance Mitchell (USA) — 878.5 kilograms (1,936.8 pounds) — IPF Raw World Record
    • Squat — 315 kilograms (694.5 pounds)
    • Bench Press — 190 kilograms (418.9 pounds)
    • Deadlift — 373.5 kilograms (823.4 pounds) — IPF Raw World Record
  2. Emil Krastev (BUL) — 877.5 kilograms (1,934.6 pounds)
    • Squat — 307.5 kilograms (677.9 pounds)
    • Bench Press — 227.5 kilograms (501.6 pounds)
    • Deadlift — 342.5 kilograms (755.1 pounds)
  3. Jonathan Cayco (USA) — 873.5 kilograms ( pounds)
    • Squat — 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds)
    • Bench Press — 238.5 kilograms (525.8 pounds) — IPF Raw World Record
    • Deadlift — 335 kilograms (738.6 pounds)

Check out Mitchell’s IPF raw world record deadlift in the video below, courtesy of the IPF’s Instagram page. It exceeded the previous record of 372.5 kilograms (821.2 pounds) scored by Krzysztof Wierzbicki at the 2014 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Cayco furthered his IPF raw bench press world record by half a kilogram in Sun City. He scored the previous IPF raw bench press world record at the 2021 IPF World Classic Championships, which he won via the previous IPF raw total world record. According to Open Powerlifting, Cayco’s new IPF raw bench press world record is four kilograms fewer than his competition-best bench press of 242.5 kilograms (534.6 pounds), scored at the 2021 USA Powerlifting (USAPL) Iron Office Winter Classic. The 2022 IPF World Classic Championships conclude on June 11, 2022. In addition to the Men’s 93-kilogram class, IPF world records were scored in the Women’s 47-kilogram, 52-kilogram, 57-kilogram, and 76-kilogram categories, and in the Men’s 66-kilogram and 83-kilogram categories at the time of this article’s publication.
