Hany Rambod Critiques Wesley Vissers’ 2024 Olympia Physique

Rambod discussed Vissers’ strengths to address his weaknesses.

After their recent interview, newly retired, 25-time Olympia-winning coach Hany Rambod analyzed 2024 Arnold Classic (AC) champ Wesley Vissers’ physique using posing shots from the 2024 Olympia, where he ranked eighth in the Classic Physique division.

Vissers will attempt to defend his AC crown in Columbus, OH, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.

Strengths: A Classic Upper Body

When Rambod analyzes a physique, he starts at the arms in a front double biceps pose. “One of the things that comes to mind is how great Wesley’s arms are,” Rambod commented. “I think they’re absolutely phenomenal.”

Rambod appreciated Vissers’ full biceps and triceps, which are reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fullness refers to muscle length relative to the length of the bone it’s attached to. The shorter the gap between the muscle and its insertion, the fuller and larger muscles look.

Rambod praised Vissers’ lat width, which is crucial to the V-taper aesthetic. Vissers’ chest also received high marks. Vissers’ shoulders pop nicely, further enhancing his torso with aesthetic abs. Vissers’ lats, arms, and delts are equally impressive from the back biceps shot in Rambod’s view.

Vissers’ most muscular is on point. “This is where he really excels,” Rambod said, applauding Vissers’ proportions and muscle detail, especially from the quads up. “This is one of his knockout shots, and I can’t forget how big those traps are.”

Areas for Improvement: Lower Body Symmetry

Calves are the second body part Rambod critiques. They should match the size of the arms for a symmetrical X-frame shape. Vissers’ calves are a bit undersized by comparison. “Because his arms are so good, he would want to increase the thickness in the calves,” Rambod advised.

Rambod prescribes standing and seated calf raises to build the larger gastrocnemius and deeper soleus muscles. He incorporates lengthened partials with high volume.

Thighs & Hamstrings

Rambod noticed Vissers’ quad sweep, or outer quad curvature, didn’t match his shoulder width in all poses. Front squats, narrow hack squats, and narrow leg presses can help.

Rambod felt Vissers could have been more conditioned from the rear to bring out his glute-hamstring separation and sharpen his lower back.

Vissers’ wide delts, good chest fiber visibility, and world-class arms stand out in his side chest pose. However, the same issue lies in his outer quads — he needs more hamstring thickness so they drop lower.

“Once that happens, Visser’s will have a very impressive and imposing look,” Rambod guaranteed.

Vissers’ Physique Rating: 7.8 Sandows

After thoroughly assessing Vissers’ physique, Rambod rated it 7.8 out of 10. Rambod clarified that Vissers wasn’t his best at the 2024 Olympia and has much room for improvement. “I’m being a little harsh, but I know he can fulfill his potential.”
