If you follow powerlifter Kheycie Romero on social media, you know she has been putting in serious work on the lifting platform in the gym recently. On Apr. 17, 2022, she shared a series of training clips on her Instagram page, including a 279.9-kilogram (617-pound) raw deadlift personal record.
In addition to her single PR, Romero also pulled a 264.8-kilogram (584-pound) raw double PR. Her new milestones can be seen in the first two videos in the post below. She performed all three lifts in a sumo stance while using an overhand grip:

Were Romero to successfully perform a 279.9-kilogram (617-pound) deadlift like the one in the video above in a sanctioned meet, it would eclipse the current all-time world record in the 90-kilogram weight class. The current world record at 90-kilograms belongs to Samantha Rice, who pulled 273.4 kilograms (602.9 pounds) at the 2022 Hybrid Showdown IV on Jan. 15, 2022.
This isn’t Romero’s first time owning 600-plus pounds on the third big lift. On Jan. 24, 2020, she pulled an incredible 283.5 kilograms (625 pounds) while wearing lifting straps, which aren’t allowed in a raw sanctioned contest. Her most recent big single PR was performed without straps — a sign of how much stronger she has gotten over the last two years.
According to Open Powerlifting, Romero’s best pull in competition at the time of this article’s publication is 265 kilograms (584.2 pounds) during her second attempt at the 2021 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) The Bucked Up Showdown — nearly the same weight she pulled for a double in this training session. She missed her final attempt of 273.5 kilograms (603 pounds) at that contest.

Romero is proficient in the other two big lifts as well. Her competition-best squat was in the +90-kilogram class — 220 kilograms (485 pounds) at the 2020 WRPF Hybrid Showdown II. Her best bench press came in the 90-kilogram division — a 120-kilogram (264.6-pound) lift locked out at the same meet as her best deadlift.
While Romero didn’t share her body weight at the time of her training lifts, if she successfully pulls the same weight or anything higher in her next sanctioned meet, she will rewrite the record books.
