Once you decide you want to add a treadmill to your home gym, you’ll likely have a lot of questions running through your head (no pun intended). What kind of space do I have for it? What features do I need to accomplish my fitness goals? What’s my budget? If you’re looking for a machine that can handle a heavy workload, has great cushioning and a simple console that will help you follow your workout stats, the Sole S77 may be the answer to all of those questions you’ve been asking.

Main Takeaways

  • The Sole S77 has a high weight capacity of 400 pounds.
  • It’s Cushion Whisper Flex Deck allows for 40 percent less impact than outdoor running.
  • This machine was built to last, with a sturdy frame and wider build — the focus is on quality rather than technology here.

Sole S77 Treadmill Highlights

If you decide to purchase the Sole S77, you’ll be getting a quality machine with a strong frame, durable belt, wide running area and solid incline and speed ranges. However, what you won’t get is a high-tech console. This tread keeps it pretty basic when it comes to technology, and while you can still sync your stats to third party apps through the Sole Fitness app, you won’t be streaming any classes or playing with a cool touchscreen display on this treadmill.

The Sole S77 is a durable treadmill with a long-lasting belt, large running area, and high weight capacity. It’s built to withstand daily usage, and though there aren’t a lot of high-tech frills, this machine’s powerful 4.0 CHP motor will keep you running strong for many years to come.

Who Should Buy the Sole S77

  • Users who need a treadmill with a higher weight capacity.
  • Runners who want a simple console that won’t distract from their runs.
  • Athletes who want a wider running area to have a little extra wiggle room for stumbles.

Who Shouldn’t Buy the Sole S77

  • Anyone who’s looking for a high-tech console with all the latest and greatest technological features.
  • Buyers who need a folding treadmill they can stow away when it’s not in use.

Price

This treadmill goes for a very middle-of-the-road $1,899.99. With this particular machine, you are paying for the overall build, sturdy frame and durable belt. With other treads in this price range, you may be paying for a lower quality build but higher amounts of technology—be aware of the features you’re getting with your purchase instead of just noting the price tag.

Overall Build and Quality

If you buy the Sole S77, you’re going to need to clear a lot of room in your home gym. It’s a big machine that doesn’t fold, so where you decide to put it, it stays. You can also expect it to last and hold up to daily work from multiple users. But you won’t find a lot of modern technology here — the console keeps it pretty basic, with options to sync to outside apps but no flashy displays to distract you from your runs.

Features

You can expect all the basics here — average incline and speed ranges, fans, heart rate monitoring, some pre-programmed workouts and Bluetooth compatibility. What the S77 lacks in a big touchscreen display or lots of streaming options it makes up for with its durable build and accommodating track.

Incline range

This treadmill climbs to average heights for this price range — zero up to 15 percent in incline.

Speed range

You can feel comfortable walking or running on the Sole S77 because it goes as slow as 0.5 mph and as fast as 12 mph.

Included workouts

There aren’t a ton of programmed workouts on this console but there are still 10 to choose from, including cardio, fat burn, hill, interval and strength.

Display

The high contrast display is small here, measuring in at only 10.1 inches. Many other treadmills in this price range feature larger displays with more high-tech features.

Speakers

There are two Bluetooth audio speakers on the Sole S77, so you can sync your phone and blast your workout playlist as loud as you want.

Fans

This machine does have cooling fans, so rest assured your summer runs won’t be that hot.

Heart Rate Monitoring

You can track your heart rate with the included wireless chest strap, so grab onto the pulse grips for the occasional check-in.

HDMI, USB and Other Inputs

There is a USB port on the console, so you can keep your devices fully charged throughout your session.

Bluetooth and Audio Options

The Sole S77 is Bluetooth compatible, so you can sync your devices, connect to the Sole Fitness app and then share your workout stats with any third party fitness app. Or, if you’re less about the numbers and more about the jams, just sync up and play your music through the built-in Bluetooth speakers.

Water Bottle, Cup Holders, Tablet and Phone Holders

There are two water bottle holders or accessory trays (user’s choice) on each side of the console, so you can store all your goods safely while you run. There’s also a tablet holder if you want to prop up your favorite fitness class or Netflix series to stream throughout your workout.

Product Specs

The 258-pound Sole S77 was built to withstand any workout thrown its way with its powerful 4.0 motor and spacious running area. It can handle a solid amount of weight and has a sturdy deck made for daily usage, but this machine will take up a good chunk of space. If you’re looking to find a machine for a small apartment, just note, this one doesn’t fold, so wherever you put it, it’s going to stay even when it’s not in use.

Motor Size

The Sole S77 has a strong 4.0 CHP motor, which means that multiple users can run on this machine daily and it won’t even flinch.

Running Area

The running area is more spacious than a lot of other treadmills in this price range, measuring 60 inches long by 22 inches wide. Most are just 20 inches wide so this one gives you some extra room for missteps.

Weight Capacity

The Sole S77 has a high weight capacity for its price range, handling users of up to 400 pounds with ease.

Folding Options and Dimensions

The footprint of this tread is 80″ x 36″ x 58″, and there’s no folding option here, so once it’s assembled in your home, you can expect that space to be taken.

Max Speed and Incline Range

The Sole S77’s 4.0 CHP motor is exceptionally quiet, changing inclines and speeds with ease, so your house can continue sleeping while you get your morning intervals in.

Electrical Requirements

This tread requires your average 120-volt, 20-amp home power outlet, so you don’t need to install anything fancy to get your tread up and running.

Warranties

With your purchase, you’ll get a lifetime warranty on the frame, motor and deck, five years on parts and electronics, and two years on (in-home) labor.

Belt Information and Roller Size

The Sole S77 has a thick, 2-ply belt and large 2.75 inch rollers, to keep your runs smooth for a long time to come.

Cushioning and Feel

The Cushion Flex Shock Absorption Whisper Deck will help protect runners from injury by reducing joint impact by 40 percent compared to pavement running.

Workout Apps, Compatibility and Subscription Options

Though there are no subscriptions that come with this purchase, the Bluetooth compatibility allows users to connect their devices to the Sole Fitness app, which you can then sync with third-party fitness apps like MyFitnessPal and Apple Fitness to track your stats on your favorite platform.

Places to Buy

You can buy the Sole S77 through the Sole Fitness website.

Company Information

Sole Fitness once only sold their treadmills, ellipticals and bikes to hotels, but they have since started selling to individuals for home use and have become a key manufacturer for that group as well.

With your purchase, you’ll get a 30-day trial period and if you aren’t satisfied by the end of it, you can get a full refund. And if you need help with any Sole Fitness product, call 866-780 SOLE (7653) to reach their customer service.

FAQs

Is the Sole S77 worth the price?

If what you’re looking for is a quality build with a lasting frame and belt that can endure a ton of runs, then yes, you’ll be satisfied with your purchase. If you need added technology or even a decline option, you can find other treadmills in this similar price range that offer fancier features.

Can you listen to music on the Sole S77?

Yes. The Sole S77 is Bluetooth compatible, so if you sync your phone or tablet to the tread, your music can play directly through the speakers.

How much space does the Sole S77 require?

The Sole S77 does not fold, so its dimensions (80″ x 36″ x 58″) will stay the same whether in use or not. If you’re looking for a treadmill for a small space, the Sole S77 likely isn’t for you. But if you have a solid amount of room in your garage or office, as long as you don’t mind a treadmill that doesn’t fold, this is a great option.
