Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr did it again at the 2025 Torian Pro in Brisbane, Australia, over the weekend.
- She was dominant from start to finish at the In-Person Qualifying Event, winning five out of six events and earning an invitation to this summer’s CrossFit Games in Albany, NY.
The question now, of course, is whether or not she’ll accept that invite.
Remind Me
Back in April, the seven-time Fittest Woman on Earth announced that the Torian Pro would be an opportunity “to say goodbye to this chapter.”
Although that might sound like a retirement, she never explicitly said the words “I’m retiring,” a trend that continued in a post-event interview following the Torian Pro on Sunday.
An emotional Toomey-Orr credited the event for giving her the confidence she needed to build her incredible career.
- “Torian Pro is a platform for athletes to embark on a career that they couldn’t even begin to imagine…Out of nowhere, CrossFit came into my life,” she said. “I was a lab technician doing shift work. And all of a sudden, I went to the Torian Pro and then I came second at the CrossFit Games.”
She added: “The moral of the story is the Torian Pro creates dreams and turns dreams into reality…To end it here in front of a home crowd, and walk away with my heart just so full of love, and admiration, and gratitude. It’s a dream come true.”
OK, so that sounds like an official retirement.
Until she went on to say, “Tomorrow is never promised. I think that’s why it’s so hard for me to retire.”
Tia at the Torian Pro
Toomey-Orr was as dominant as ever all weekend in Brisbane, winning five of the six events, many by considerable margins.
- She took both Event 1 and Event 2 by more than two minutes over the next-best competitor, while her margin of victory in the third event exceeded a minute.
Toomey-Orr finally faced a challenge in Event 4 — Grisabel: 30 snatches, 150 double-unders, 30 clean and jerks — as Grace Walton led heading into the clean and jerks.
However, Walton ultimately couldn’t keep up with Toomey-Orr, who reclaimed the lead after the first 10 clean and jerks and never looked back.
- The only event Toomey-Orr didn’t win was Event 5, an interval event featuring Ski Erg calories, dumbbell snatches, and burpee box jumps. Walton managed to secure the win by just five seconds over Toomey-Orr.
In the final event, Toomey-Orr was again in a class of her own. She completed the first set of 18 muscle-ups unbroken and led throughout, resulting in a 49-second victory over Maddie Sturt.
While we’re accustomed to seeing Toomey-Orr take home wins, what makes her performance this weekend even more remarkable is that her focus has reportedly been on preparing for the HYROX World Championships this June rather than on the CrossFit Games season.
The Big Picture
At 31, Toomey-Orr looks as fit as ever, and her win this weekend adds yet another title to her legendary resume.
But questions remain about what is next for the G.O.A.T. Was this really her final competition, or will we see her again this summer?
If she accepts her invite to Albany, NY, one thing is clear: she will be difficult to beat. As always.
