Seven-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and HYROX elite athlete Joanna Wietrzyk put on an impressive show at the HYROX race held in Houston, TX, last weekend.
The pair won the Pro Women’s Doubles division on Saturday at the HYROX Houston race, securing a spot in the Pro Doubles Elite 15 World Championship.
They finished with a time of 54:24, just over a minute ahead of HYROX royalty Lauren Weeks and Lauren Griffith.
- Toomey-Orr has been dabbling in the HYROX space for the last several months. In December of 2024, she made her race debut in the mixed doubles division with friend and fellow CrossFitter James Newbury.
- Wietrzyk recently competed at HYROX Glasgow in the elite women’s division, where she took second place with a time of 56:49.
Not only did the pair qualify for the World Championship, but Toomey-Orr and Wietrzyk also set the world record for the pro women’s doubles division. The World Championship will be held in June in Chicago, IL.
- Toomey-Orr’s brand, PRVN Fitness, has launched a HYROX program track and hired James Kelly, a HYROX elite athlete and coach, as its head coach.
- Kelly also competed in the men’s pro doubles division with Jake Dearden, setting a world record with a time of 50:04.
Toomey-Orr is also simultaneously still participating in the CrossFit Open, but it’s unclear what her plan is for the rest of the 2025 CrossFit season. She currently sits below the cutline for the Syndicate Crown In-Person Qualifying Event but has accepted an invitation to the Torian Pro in Wollongong, Australia.
One last thing: The growth of HYROX, especially the crossover of CrossFit elite athletes into the sport, is worth noting. Toomey-Orr is one of the most iconic and decorated CrossFit athletes, and it will be intriguing to watch how she manages both as the year continues.
