After being postponed several times due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games dates have been officially confirmed.
Unique to this year’s Games, there will be two stages to crowning the Fittest Man and Fittest Woman on Earth. First, there will be an online competition where competitors will compete remotely. Their goal in the qualifier is to finish in the top 5 to earn a spot in the finals, where athletes will compete in-person, presumably in Aromas, California at the CrossFit Ranch.
Here are the dates for both stages:
- Online qualifier — Begins September 18th and will “last 2 to 3 days”.
- In-person finals — October 19-25.

Eric Roza’s official acquisition — along with Boston-based investment firm Berkshire Partners — of CrossFit was finalized on August 7th after approval from government regulators. This new hybrid-model competition structure was decided following a call that same day between CrossFit Games organizers and qualified Games athletes. Here is a quick summation for those who have not yet learned of the new Games structure:
Online Qualifier
The reduced field 30 men and 30 women will compete remotely in their home countries for 5 available slots in the finals. This event will determine the ranking of 6th through 30th place and their corresponding prizes.
Finals
The finals will take place October 19-25 in-person and will only feature the 5 men and 5 women who advanced from the online qualifier. Podium finishers as well as the Fittest Man and Fittest Woman on Earth will be determined here.
It has been confirmed that the online competition will be live-streamed and the finals will be televised. All events will be streamed on the CrossFit Games website. Team and Age Group competition (Masters, and Teens divisions) are canceled for this year.
