As of August 21, 2021, Deana D’Andrea is one of the strongest equipped female powerlifters in the world. At the 2021 World Powerlifting Organization (WPO) Super Finals in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the 33-year-old posted an 812-kilogram (1,791-pound) total to win the women’s division. With her win, D’Andrea — who also goes by Deana Tollefson — pocketed $4,000. The second and third-place finishers received $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.
According to Open Powerlifting, D’Andrea’s total is 10 kilograms heavier than the current record in the 82.5-kilogram division, held by Laura Phelps Stackhouse. D’Andrea regularly competes at 82.5 kilograms. However, it’s not yet clear if D’Andrea’s record will count as an official record, as the WPO ranked lifters from multiple weight classes based on the Glossbrenner formula. Below is a recap of D’Andrea’s best lifts from the meet.
Editor’s note: At the time this article was written, Open Powerlifting has yet to update its database to reflect the results from the WPO Super Finals. We will update this article if new information is made available.

The Super Finals welcomed 30 men and 30 women who posted the highest Glossbrenner scores of all entrants of other WPO-affiliated competitions. (The Glossbrenner score is a formula, like the Wilks score, that calculates the strongest pound-for-pound lifter.) This means that all of the men and women competed for the highest Glossbrenner score, regardless of their weight class. D’Andrea’s Glossbrenner score was 640.49 —14.31 higher than the runner-up.
Come competition time, only 20 women appeared to compete, according to the WPO’s Instagram page. Tara Webber and Rebecca Roberts placed second and third, respectively. Not only was D’Andrea’s Glossbrenner score the highest, but so was her overall total.
D’Andrea’s Competitive History
D’Andrea first stepped on the competitive platform in 2017, according to Open Powerlifting. Since then, she’s participated in 14 meets before the Super Finals. She’s won all but three of them and failed to podium only once (due to a disqualification). Though her most recent meet was in multi-ply gear, D’Andrea has also competed in the Raw, Wraps, and Single-Ply classes — both at 75 and 82.5 kilograms.

The second heaviest total ever at 82.5 kilograms in the Single-Ply division also belongs to D’Andrea, which she earned by lifting 697.5 kilograms (1,534.5 pounds).
It’s not clear when D’Andrea will compete again. That said, seeing as she just wrapped a competitive meet and totaled 10 kilograms above the current heaviest total in her weight class, we say she’s probably earned a rest day.
