2023 Iceland’s Strongest Viking Results — Vilius Jokužys Victorious

Jokužys bested eight of Iceland's strongest to claim the throne.

The 2023 Iceland’s Strongest Viking contest occurred from July 13-16, 2023. It pitted nine of Iceland’s strongest athletes against each other in the following nine events: Conan’s Wheel, Viking Press, Bag Over Bar, Deadlift Ladder, Mooring Bitt Carry, Hercules Hold, Front Hold, Max Log Lift, and Natural Stones.

Vilius Jokužys emerged from the field atop the podium, scoring 62 of a possible 81 points. Check out the full results below:

2023 Iceland’s Strongest Viking Results

  1. Vilius Jokužys — 62 points
  2. Kristján Níelsson — 57.5 points
  3. Sigfús Fossdal — 55.5 points
  4. Kristján Jón Haraldsson — 55 points
  5. Stefán Karel Torfason — 44.5 points
  6. Theodór Már Gudmundsson — 41.5 points
  7. Pálmi Gudfinnsson — 39.5 points
  8. Alexander Andersen — 23.5 points
  9. Ólafur Haukur Tómasson — 20 points

Conan’s Wheel

Conan’s Wheel weighed 300 kilograms. Athletes attempted to move it for distance.

  1. Vilius Jokužys — 89.35 meters
  2. Alexander Andersen — 76.10 meters
  3. Kristján Níelsson — 65.80 meters
  4. Theodór Már Gudmundsson — 64.20 meters
  5. Sigfús Fossdal — 55 meters
  6. Stefán Karel Torfason — 48.8 meters
  7. Kristján Jón Haraldsson — 39.3 meters

Viking Press

The Viking Press weighed 150 kilograms. Each strongman attempted to lift for reps.

  2. Sigfús Fossdal — 11 reps
  3. Kristján Jón Haraldsson — 10 reps
  4. Vilius Jokužys — Seven reps
  5. Stefán Karel Torfason — Five reps (T-fifth)
  6. Ólafur Haukur Tómasson — Five reps (T-fifth)
  7. Pálmi Gudfinnsson — Two reps
  8. Theodór Már Gudmundsson — no reps
  9. Alexander Andersen — no reps

Bag Over Bar

Each strongman attempted to toss a 24-kilogram bag over the highest bar they could.

According to Strongman Archives, this contest marks Jokužys’ first major strongman competition victory. His previous top performances were silver medals at the 2022 and 2023 Iceland’s Strongest Man contests, both won by Kristján Jón Haraldsson.
