From June 8-15, 2025, many of the world’s best powerlifters converged on Chemnitz, Germany, to compete in the 2025 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Classic Championships. The Women’s 47KG category was a highlight of the entire competition.
The battle between Heather Connor of the USA and France’s Tiffany Chapon, the four-time defending champion, resulted in three world records between them. Connor set deadlift and total world records en route to the overall title, while Chapon set a new world record bench press of 102 kilograms to land the overall silver medal.
Although Chapon narrowly missed a fifth world title by half a kilogram, her world record bench press further cements her legacy as one of the all-time greatest in the category. Her world record 102-kilogram bench press can be seen in the video below, courtesy of the IPF’s Instagram page:
Though the world record weight sat on the bar as Chapon approached the bench, she did not appear uncertain about the weight. As the long-time world record holder in the lift, this wasn’t foreign territory to her.
Chapon unracked the bar and adjusted her position before beginning the descent. The bar moved smoothly to her chest, where it paused momentarily before ascending to lockout without any sticking points.

Chapon six for nine, missing her third attempt in each lift:

- 102 kilograms — IPF World Record
105 kilograms
- Deadlift

Chapon’s title was not lost without a worthy fight. Chapon’s performance compelled the greatest deadlifter in the category to attempt 7.5 kilograms more than the world record at the time. Unfortunately for Chapon, Connor was at her all-time best on this day and locked out the heaviest deadlift the 47KG category has ever seen in competition.
