Powerlifter and IFBB Pro League Men’s Open bodybuilder Kyle Kirvay recently caught the attention of the strength sports world when he posted an Instagram reel on July 5, 2025, wherein he squatted a 388-kilogram (855-pound) raw triple. Check it out below:
Kirvay appeared to perform the first two reps with ease. After a brief pause following his second rep, Kirvay descended for the third rep to the cheers from behind the camera. He briefly struggled but completed the rep and reracked the barbell before unclipping his lever weight belt. He wore wrist wraps and knee sleeves and performed the set without a spotter.
Kirvay’s squat triple was a lifetime personal record. Some bodybuilding fans compared Krivay’s strength to eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman, who has an iconic 800-pound squat double, though he wore a squat suit, whereas Kirvay’s triple was performed raw.
Those who praised Kirvay’s set in the comments section included pro bodybuilders Evan Centopani, James Hollingshead, and Flex Lewis, as well as powerlifter and bodybuilder Joe Sullivan, who has set world records squats.
According to Open Powerlifting, Kirvay has competed in powerlifting since 2022 and immediately started setting records, including a USPA national record 275-pound bench press.
Kirvay’s best competition squat was 417.5 kilograms (920 pounds) at the 2024 PLU American Pro 3 meet in Winchester, VA, and his career-best deadlift was 402.5 kilograms (887 pounds).
According to NPC News Online, Kirvay most recently stepped on a pro bodybuilding stage at the 2020 Chicago Pro, where he ranked 16th.
Kirvay wrote in his post’s caption that he wants to be known as the strongest raw powerlifter ever. Whether or not he ultimately achieves that feat in the future, he could legitimately argue that he’s the strongest pro bodybuilder in the world right now.
