CrossFit athletes and fans, prepare for a potentially bumpy week, because if we had to take a rationale guess based on previous Reebok CrossFit Games, then this won’t be the last hint and event reveal we see in the near future. Yesterday, Dave Castro took to Twitter to reveal the full details for the individual athlete’s 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games event two.
On Saturday, Castro first revealed a small hint in regards to event number two on his Instagram page, and it was a simple post with rings. For those accustomed to CrossFit style workouts, then this obviously meant muscle-ups were coming, but for how many and in what fashion?

Well, we have the answer and it was different than what a lot of folks speculated in Castro’s initial Instagram post’s comments section. A majority of commenters guessed it would be a string of exercises (like us), but Castro being Castro, shook it up again. So what is individual event two?

30 Muscle-Ups for Time
If you visit the CrossFit Games website and read the full details, then there’s something interested that’s attached to this event’s description. The description reads, “Each athlete will have one set of rings and will complete 30 muscle-ups before crossing the finish line.”
This could simply mean racing the normal distance of the stadium’s floor, but it does sound a little strange, especially when you consider the hint we received for event one. And while event one hasn’t fully been released yet, we do have a good idea that it’s going to take some form of a triathlon.
On July 9th, Castro shared a photo of a road bike, which is technically a new workout modality when compared to last year’s more off-road focused bike/track. The real elephant in the room is how long will event one be? After all, 30 muscle-ups for time with these athletes will undoubtedly be light and fast, so could event one be a monster?
