Some of the biggest names in strongman competed at the World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour this past weekend in Manchester Arena, England. The finals took place on Saturday, September 7th, and for the second year in a row, Mateusz Kieliszkowski took home first place.
Kieliszkowski competed against 12 of the world’s best strongmen, including familiar names like Tom Stoltman, Luke Stoltman, and Robert Oberst, to name a few.
Check out the full roster of the 13 strongmen who competed over the weekend:
- Mateusz Kieliszkowski
- Mark Felix
- Oleksii Novikov
- Robert Oberst
- Adam Bishop
- Tom Stoltman
- Luke Stoltman
- Mikhail Shivlyakov
- Kevin Faires
- Evan Singleton
- Iron Biby
- Ben Brunning
- Terry Hollands
The competition included five events including, a 350-kilogram axle deadlift, 100kg dumbbell (steel & stone), a 450kg car walk, the pillars of Hercules, and a stone medley. You can catch the full live stream from the 2019 World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour on www.officialstrongman.com.
Adam Bishop started things off with a bang in the first event, crushing seven reps with the 350kg axle deadlift to snag 12 points and a first-place finish. All eyes were then on him after he finished in third place at last year’s competition.
However, things only got more interesting as the events went on, with Kieliszkowski dominating the car walk with a crazy 10.0-second sprint. This also beat out Laurence Shahlaie’s previous world record of 11:05 seconds, Giants Live confirmed.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a true strongman competition without some brutal injury masked by strongman grit. Despite his injury, Mikhail Shivlyakov tore his hamstring during the axle deadlift but continued to compete through the final three events.
It all came down to the final event to determine the winner. Entering stones, Iron Biby and Novikov were tied for first place. At this point, Kieliszkowski wasn’t far behind in second.
Kieliszkowski ended up regaining the lead by finishing event five with five stones in 21.15 seconds.
The final standings looked like this:
- Mateusz Kieliszkowski — 47.5 points
- Ben Brunning — 45 points
- Oleksii Novikov — 45 points
It was an exciting weekend, to say the least, and a huge congratulations to Kieliszkowski for holding onto his title!
