Now that we’ve recovered from the CrossFit Workout 20.1, we can officially get the second workout of the 2020 CrossFit Open underway.
On Thursday, 20.2 was announced live from CrossFit Newcastle in Newcastle, New South Wales. The Australian CrossFit Championship crew ran the announcement and live stream featuring a special head-to-head battle between elite Australian CrossFit Games veterans Khan Porter and Matt Mcleod.
Last week, Rich Froning and Scott Panchik battled it out for the first workout of the 2020 Open. During the announcement, Panchik also broke the news that he’d be joining CrossFit Mayhem Freedom. 20.1 proved to be a sneaky killer, and several top CrossFit Games athletes have shared their workout attempts. Reebok CrossFit Games athlete Lefteris Theofanidis did it in 8:05, no big deal.
Now, though, 20.1 is a thing of the past, so let’s dive into CrossFit Open Workout 20.2!

The 2020 Open leaderboard has been changing constantly with new times and videos coming in. We’ve seen some of the biggest names in CrossFit take on 20.1, and long story short, the 100 burpees have been a killer for everyone.
After 20.1 wrapped with some notable performances, here are three athletes to watch out for in 20.2.
Mat Fraser
Fraser placed in ninth place for his 8:28 score on 20.1. We’re excited to see him crush this next workout, and see if he can climb his way to the first spot. Need us not remind you, he is the reigning Reebok CrossFit Champion!
Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson
Guðmundsson finished in third place at the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games, and sits at second place on the 2020 Open leaderboard after scoring 8:16. He has placed first for Iceland in the Open since 2015, so we’re expecting big things for him in the 2020 Open.
Emma Mcquaid
Mcquaid sits at the top of the 2020 Open leaderboard for women with a crazy impressive score of 7:41. She is Ireland’s National Champion from the 2019 Open, and finished 21st overall at the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. We’re excited to see what she continues to do throughout the Open, because at the moment her score is one on everybody’s radar.
