Over the weekend, the CrossFit Filthy 150 wrapped up in Ireland and marked the official start of the 2020 CrossFit Sanctionals™ season.
The Filthy 150 competition kicked off Thursday and ran through Sunday. The event was filled with action from start to finish with the elite individual athletes taking on seven events over the course of the competition and the teams tackling eight.
With a ton of big named athletes competing and the Open just wrapping up, this was certainly an awesome start to the 2020 CrossFit Sanctionals Season.
So who came out on top?
Note, the leaderboard has not been finalized for the 2020 CrossFit Open, so results below could be subject to change.
Elite Women
- Sara Sigmundsdottir – 840
- Kristin Holte – 812
- Emma Mcquaid – 700
Sigmundsdottir has been on absolute fire for the 2020 CrossFit Games season. As of right now, she’s in first place on the CrossFit Open leaderboard and put on a commanding performance at the Filthy 150. Holte, who’s in third on the Open leaderboard was close behind Sigmunsdottir the whole weekend, however, fell just short on the final two events finishing in third and fourth behind Sigmundsdottir’s two second place finishes.
Third place Mcquaid had a consistently strong performance over the course of the competition, but couldn’t make up ground over Holte’s 112 point lead. Currently, Mcquaid is sitting as Ireland’s National Champion, so that means fourth place Andrea Solberg will be earning the invite to the CrossFit Games.
Elite Men
- Justin Medeiros – 726
- Roman Khrennikov – 688
- Tim Paulson – 634
Medeiros, who finished in 68th place on the Open leaderboard knew he needed to have a fantastic weekend to earn his ticket to the CrossFit Games. Despite a 16th place finish in the Trek Run event, he held off the competition and brought home first to earn his Games invite.
Khrennikov, who is sitting in 10th on the Open leaderboard, was consistently strong the whole weekend, but was unable to catch Medeiro’s lead despite having five first place event finishes.
Elite Teams
- ROMWOD Meatsquad
- The Progrm
- The Athlete Program
It was an exciting first Sanctionals competition and we’re expecting them to only get more lively as the season goes on. The next Sanctionals set to take place is the Pandaland CrossFit Challenge taking place December 7th-8th.
Who won the CrossFit Filthy 150 Sanctonals competition?
Sara Sigmundsdottir brought home first place for the elite women, Justin Medeiros won the elite men’s division, and ROMWOD Meatsquad won the team division.
