Kheycie Romero has been doing some extremely heavy training the last several months, including multiple sessions where she worked towards 600+lb deadlifts. This past weekend, Romero competed in the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) Hybrid Showdown II in the +89kg/198lb weight class.
She not only earned first place but bested every previous competition personal record she had by a wide margin.
Check out the video from her Instagram page that highlights her successful squat and deadlift attempts from Hybrid Showdown II:

Her first place finish consisted of:
- Squat – 219.5kg/484lb (20kg/44lb meet PR)⠀
- Bench Press – 105kg/232lb (13kg/29lb meet PR)⠀
- Deadlift – 245kg/540lb (15kg/33lb meet PR)
- Total – 569.7kg/1,256lb (52kg/115lb meet PR)
Those are staggering jumps in weight, but should not surprise you if you have followed Romero’s past year of training that involved her abstaining from competition. The last time Romero competed was nearly a full year ago at the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) Battle of the Bay V on February 8th, 2019 where she set her previous competition squat, bench, and total PR’s. In case you were wondering, she won gold at that meet, too.
In the Instagram post of Hybrid Showdown II, Romero writes:
“I’m honestly looking forward to going back to training and perfecting my lifts so I am more comfortable when platform time comes.”
“Going back to training and perfecting my lifts” may sound like a routine, perhaps even generic thing to say after an immensely successful meet. But those words might hold more weight coming from Romero whose training sometimes involves a would be all-time world record lift across all classes like this 283.5kg/625lb raw deadlift with straps:

We are not sure of when Romero plans to compete next to put those perfected lifts on display and challenge her competition PR’s again. But we will be watching closely when she does.
