The 4-time Fittest Man on Earth and member of the 4-time CrossFit Games winning team Mayhem Freedom Rich Froning announced on his Instagram page earlier today that the Mayhem Madness Team Event is canceled.
According to Froning, the decision was made due to travel restrictions imposed by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The global health crisis has already led to multiple postponements of the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games and compelled other competitions like the Rogue Invitational to move online.

“Due to International Travel restrictions and other limitations imposed by COVID-19, we are sad to announce that we are canceling the Mayhem Madness Team Event.”
According to Froning, the decision was made in lieu of postponing the event again and prolonging the season:
We’d obviously really like to put on a show and compete, but it’s outside of our control.
This Mayhem Madness Team Event was initially put in place as a response to CrossFit HQ removing team and age group competition the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games due that event no longer being public. Those changes also included limiting the roster and holding the event in Aromas, California. Currently, the Games are postponed until at least September 14th.

Mayhem Madness was originally scheduled to take place on August 2nd-9th but was postponed in a statement on July 7th until later in August. Although they were hopeful for the new dates of August 23rd-30th, the COVID case count is still at record highs across in the United States. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) COVID case tracker, at the time of this article, 4,280,135 cases and 147,672 deaths have been confirmed in the U.S.
