Five More Athletes Suspended Due to CrossFit Drug Policy Breach

More athletes from the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games have been suspended.

On Sunday, CrossFit HQ shared a press release that provided the names of five athletes who have received suspensions due to drug policy breaches. The five athletes include: Gabor Torok, Vincent Lopez, Paul Perna, Robbie Perovich, and Marion Valkenburg. 

All of these athletes competed at the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. In the press release, CrossFit HQ discloses that all of their tests were administered during the timeframe of the Games.

Every athlete included below has received four year suspensions from formal CrossFit competition. Check out all of the details from CrossFit HQ’s press release below. 

  1. Gabor Torok, Individual, Ranked 48th at the 2019 Games – Torok tested positive for a Stanozolol metabolite (16β-hydroxystanozolol). Stanozolol is in the class of anabolic agents. The sample also tested positive for Clomiphene. Clomiphene is in the class of hormone and metabolic modulators. The test was administered on July 29, 2019, at the CrossFit Games. Torok is suspended for four years.
  2. Vincent Lopez, Masters 55-59, Ranked 8th at the 2019 Games – Lopez tested positive for exogenous testosterone. This is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 2, 2019, at the CrossFit Games. Lopez is suspended for four years.
  3. Paul Perna, Masters 60+, Ranked 1st at the 2019 Games– Perna tested positive for exogenous testosterone. This is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019, at the CrossFit Games. Perna is suspended for four years.
  4. Robbie Perovich, Masters 40-44, Ranked 3rd at the 2019 Games-Perovich tested positive for GW1516 sulfoxide and GW1516 sulfone, metabolites of GW1516. GW1516 is classified as a metabolic modulator. He also tested positive for ostarine. Ostarine is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019, at the CrossFit Games. Perovich is suspended for four years.
  5. Marion Valkenburg, Masters 55-59, Ranked 3rd at the 2019 Games –Valkenvurg tested positive for Stanozolol metabolites (3′-hydroxystanozolol and 16β-hydroxystanozolol). Stanozolol is in the class of anabolic agents. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019, at the CrossFit Games. Valkenburg is suspended for four years.
