Powerlifter Jesus Olivares created a buzz on social media with his video wherein he squatted a 425-kilograms triple in training. The all-time IPF raw squat world record holder for the superheavyweight class holds that mark with his lift of 478 kilograms but appears ready to chip that when he returns to the platform.
The Instagram reel, posted on Aug. 11, 2025, shows the entire set from start to finish:
Five spotters surrounded Olivares as he stepped out of the squat rack with the barbell on his upper back. After establishing his stance, he descended into the hole for the first rep and came back up quickly.
Olivares’ second rep nearly matched the speed of his first. After briefly pausing at the top, he descended a final time before returning to the starting position with control and walking the weight to the rack.
“Been a long time since I’ve hit an all-time squat PR. Far too long,” Olivares wrote in the caption of his post. Later, he shared in an Instagram story that he regretted not attempting a fourth rep, which he felt he had enough in the tank to lock out.
Olivares wore wrist wraps, knee sleeves, and his weight belt for the set. This all-time PR for Olivares was fewer than three months after he squatted 440 kilograms in training. The five-time IPF World Champion has been working on bar positioning in the squat, holding a lower bar position on his upper back.
At the time of this article’s publication, Olivares’ most recent meet was the 2025 IPF World Classic Championships, where he totaled 1,070 kilograms via a 430-kilogram squat, 270-kilogram bench press, and 370-kilogram deadlift. He qualified for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, but confirmed he would not compete in that meet.
