The clock is ticking. With only a little over a year to go before the 2024 Olympic Games kick off, the best weightlifters in the world continue to battle their way into โ or be unseated from โ the few precious slots for Paris. The 2023 International Weightlifting Federationโs (IWF) Grand Prix I, which ran from June 8 to 18 in Havana, Cuba, shuffled the board yet again.
The IWF does not host Grand Prix events every year. 2023 contains two; the second of which will occur in early December. Both are official Paris 2024 qualification events. As such, the platform in Cuba was assaulted by high-caliber and, in some cases, world-record-shattering lifts.
