Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Wins the 2025 CrossFit Games, Her 8th Overall

The greatest to ever do it just did it again.

We have said it before, and we’ll say it again: Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr is, without question, the greatest CrossFit athlete we have ever seen.

She is officially the 2025 CrossFit Games champion, a feat she has now accomplished eight times.

Toomey-Orr finished her weekend at the MVP Arena in Albany, NY, with 902 points, beating the UK’s Lucy Campbell by 182 points, while Olivia Kerstetter took third.

Toomey-Orr in Albany

Toomey-Orr – who spent much of her season training for the HYROX World Championships before qualifying for the Games through the Torian Pro In-Person Qualifying Event – started her weekend as strong as ever, winning consecutive events on “IE01: Run-Row-Run” and “IE02: “All Crossed Up.”

But then things got interesting.

In “IE03: All Crossed Up,” – 4, 3, 2, 1 reps of a pegboard ascent and one squat clean plus one front squat – Toomey-Orr faced some difficulty on the pegboard; her shoes seemed to hinder her, as she struggled to keep her feet on the wall.

  • Toomey-Orr finished in an unusually low 16th place, while Campbell scored 80 points for sixth, closing the gap to G.O.A.T. to six points.

In the very next event – “IE04: “Albany Grip Trip” – Campbell kept the pressure on and picked up an event win, while Toomey-Orr finished third, losing the white leader’s jersey.

Losing the leader’s jersey has been a rare occurrence for Toomey-Orr, leading us all to (temporarily) wonder whether she might be beatable in 2025.

Toomey-Orr, though, quickly put the question to rest, as she finished Saturday with three strong performances – fourth, third, and second – and suddenly she had a 69-point lead over Campbell heading into the final day of competition.

Sunday, however, is when Toomey-Orr really pulled ahead, starting the day with an easy win on “IE08: Going Dark” and increasing her lead to 130 points.

She went on to wrap up the weekend with another event win on “IE9: Running Isabel,” and finished third on the final event, “IE10: Atlas.”

How Her Win Compares to Past Titles

Out of her eight CrossFit Games titles, Toomey-Orr’s 182-point victory over Campbell ranks as her fourth-best of her eight.

Her past wins include:

  • 2017: 2 points
  • 2018: 64 points
  • 2019: 195 points
  • 2020: 360 points
  • 2021: 256 points
  • 2022: 113 points
  • 2024: 151 points

Worth noting: While Toomey-Orr locked up four event wins in Albany, she had more event wins in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024.

  • Last year, she had six event wins, while in 2021, Toomey-Orr had nine (although there were 15 events that year). Furthermore, at the 2020 CrossFit Games Finals, she won nine events, and in 2019, she won five.

That being said, Toomey-Orr now has 45 career event wins, which ties the number of wins male champions Rich Froning and Matt Fraser have combined.

The Bottom Line

Toomey-Orr is the 2025 CrossFit Games champion, and the only question now is whether or not this will be her last title.

  • Not because she couldn’t win again if she tries – there’s no doubt she could – but she has long been flirting with the concept of retiring.

Ultimately, Toomey-Orr has admitted she has had a hard time retiring. She was allegedly planning to retire after the Torian Pro, but hasn’t been able to commit to actually doing so. It’s something she reiterated in a post-event interview on Sunday.

  • “I still love competing and I don’t think that will ever disappear. It’s frucking hard to retire. So I apologize for retiring and coming back and retiring and coming back,” she said.

But whether this is her swan song or simply another title in an unmatched career, one thing is clear —Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr is the greatest CrossFit athlete we have ever known.
