How to Watch the 2016 World University Weightlifting Championships

The 2016 FISU World University Weightlifting Championships is currently underway in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The competition runs from November 13th through the 17th, and the weightlifting portion is actually nested within the multi-sport World University Championships.

Curious about who can compete in the competition? The regulation book for qualification can be found here, but a more general rundown from the document is as follows:

Only competitors who meet the following conditions may take part in the event:

  • Be a national of the country they represent.
  • Be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age.
  • Students who are currently officially registered as proceeding towards a degree or
    diploma at a university or similar institute whose status is recognized by the appropriate
    national academic authority of their country.
  • Former students of the institutions who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event.
