Evan Singleton Victorious at 2023 Giants Live World Open

The first event was the 2023 World Deadlift Championships.

The 2023 Giants Live World Open (GLWO) contest occurred on Sept. 2, 2023, in Cardiff, Wales. The five-event, single-day contest featured the 2023 World Deadlift Championships (WDC), highlighted by world champion powerlifter Jamal Browner‘s competitive strongman debut.

Fourteen athletes competed in the 2023 WDC, but only 11 competed in the remaining four events to contend for the top of the 2023 GLWO podium. Evan Singleton of the USA claimed the crown, scoring 42.5 of a possible 55 points.*

The five contested events were the Max Deadlift, Dumbbell Ladder, Load & Push, Wrecking Ball Hold, and Atlas Stones. Check out the full results below:

*Note: The scores of those who competed in the 2023 WDC but not the 2023 GLWO did not affect the scores of the 2023 GLWO competitors.

2023 Giants Live World Open Event Results

Below are the results of each of the five contested events in Cardiff:

Max Deadlift (2023 World Deadlift Championships

The 2023 WDC was a max deadlift event featuring lifts in rounds of 400, 430, 455, and 470 kilograms. Athletes were allowed to lift equipped with lifting straps.

  1. Graham Hicks (UK) — 470 kilograms
  2. Ivan Makarov (Georgia) — 455 kilograms (T-second)
  3. Evan Singleton — 455 kilograms (T-second)
  4. Rauno Heinla — 455 kilograms (T-second)
  5. Jamal Browner (USA) — 430 kilograms (T-fifth)
  6. Austin Andrade — 430 kilograms (T-fifth)
  7. Shane Flowers — 430 kilograms (T-fifth)
  8. Gavin Bilton — 430 kilograms (T-fifth)
  9. Evans Aryee — 400 kilograms (T-ninth)
  10. Luke Stoltman — 400 kilograms (T-ninth)
  11. Rob Kearney — 400 kilograms (T-ninth)

Dumbbell Ladder

The Dumbbell Ladder featured weights of 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120 kilograms. Each athlete had a 75-second time cap to lift them as fast as possible.

  2. Luke Stoltman — Five in 58.87 seconds
  3. Evan Singleton — Four in 29.79 seconds
  4. Rob Kearney — Four in 33.1 seconds
  5. Austin Andrade — Four in 43.52 seconds
  6. Gavin Bilton — Four in 51.83 seconds
  7. Pa O’Dwyer — Three in 25.64 seconds
  8. Rauno Heinla — Three in 32.23 seconds
  9. Evans Aryee — Three in 36.92 seconds
  10. Shane Flowers — Two in 18.92 seconds
  11. Oleksii Novikov — Two in 20.11 seconds

Load & Push

This event featured an anvil (120 kilograms), tire (100 kilograms), sack (130 kilograms, and a wheelbarrow push down a course of 10, 15, 20, and 20 meters, respectively.

  2. Evan Singleton — Four in 49.17 seconds
  3. Rob Kearney — Four in 52.08 seconds
  4. Evans Aryee — Four in 53.6 seconds

Wrecking Ball Hold

This event was for time with a 250-kilogram wrecking ball.
