The Heaviest Log Presses of All Time (Men’s and Women’s Strongman)

These are the heaviest logs ever put over head in competition.

In the sport of strongman, the log press is a hallmark event and certainly a fan favorite. The log press can take many forms in competition, including being tested for reps at a sub-maximal weight. But if you’re reading this, you’re interested in the HEAVIEST log presses of all time. Currently, those marks belong to two legendary strength athletes: Zydrunas “Big Z” Savickas and Andrea Thompson.

Below, we break down the two current best marks.

Zydrunas Savickas’ 228kg Log Press

The current men’s record for heaviest log press is held by Lithuanian strongman legend Zydrunas Savickas, who completed a 228kg lift at the 2015 Arnold Strongman Classic Brazil competition — with none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger looking on from the edge of the platform. “Big Z” holds most of the top 10 marks for heaviest log presses of all time, though Scottish strongman Luke Stoltman is inching his way up and seems to be poised to take a legitimate shot at the record.

Andrea Thompson’s 135kg Log Press

British strongwoman Andrea Thompson — who made the inaugural BarBend 20 list — has set numerous records in her decorated career. Those include a world record in the deadlift and, of course, her women’s-best mark of 135kg in the log press. Thompson completed the 135kg lift during a World’s Ultimate Strongman record attempt live stream in 2020. It’s worth noting that Thompson actually set two world records that day, one at 130kg and one at 135kg. She just likes breaking records by big margins!
