Strongman fans everywhere get ready, because the 2019 World’s Ultimate Strongman competition is just around the corner. On October 25th at the Meydan Grandstand in Dubai, some of the biggest names in strongman will battle through a day of challenging events for a winning prize purse of $75,000 dollars.
It will begin streaming live around the world beginning at 3 p.m. Gulf Standard Time on October 25th.
This is the second consecutive year that Dubai has hosted the Worlds Ultimate Strongman. Last year, Hafthor Bjornsson won the event, however this year he shared on his YouTube channel that he would not be competing, but will still be in attendance.
2018 Results from World’s Ultimate Strongman
1st – Hafthor Bjornsson – $75,000
2nd – Brian Shaw – $35,000
3rd – Mateusz Kieliszkowski – $15,000
Both Shaw and Kieliszkowski are listed on the athlete roster for the competition this year as well. It’s worth noting that Bjornsson is still listed on the website as a rostered athlete for the competition, however he has independently confirmed he will not be competing.
Last year we saw the athletes take on six different events in one day of competition. The events from 2018 were the truck pull, arm over arm pull, silver dollar deadlift, yoke walk, press medley, and atlas stones. We are eager to see what the events will be this year.
In related news, Starting Strongman shared on their website that the World’s Ultimate Deadlift event will take place on October 24th at the Burj Plaza in Dubai.
Licis won the title of 2019 World’s Strongest Man earlier this year, so we’re curious if he’s going to come away with the Ultimate title too!
