Cross training shoe fans, get ready.

Your shoe options have just expanded with the release of Mizuno’s new trainer. Earlier today, Mizuno announced the release of their new men’s and women’s TC-01 and TC-02 training shoes.

Mizuno’s new shoes come with the MIZUNO Center of Balance (COB) technology, which is a tech feature that aims to support an athlete’s balance throughout various workout settings. (We discuss the details of the COB tech below.) This announcement is big for cross training shoe lovers because Mizuno is often a name most associated with running shoes, and now they’re putting more energy into building shoes designed for strength training.

Mizuno TC-01 and TC-02 Release Date and Price

Both of the Mizuno shoes became available today and can be found on their website.

  • The TC-01 — $140.00 USD
  • The TC-02 — $100.00 USD

Now the question remains, what’s so different about this cross training shoe compared to others on the market? For starters, it’s probably a good idea start with and assess the MIZUNO COB technology that’s in these shoes. In their press release Mizuno writes on the technology saying,

“The MIZUNO COB Technology design introduces sensor pod clusters that enable increased feedback to transfer from the feet to aid balance. Used in the soles of the TC Series training shoes, the patent pending MIZUNO COB activation pods designed on the surface of the midsoles are linked with the design of the outsole – the part of the shoe that’s in direct contact with the ground.

These activation pods allow information to be transmitted to the bottom of the feet which can lead to increased foot sensitivity and improved performance.“

Mizuno stated that they conducted research with trainers across 15 different sports to inspire these models. They point out that balance was one of the main performance traits needed for success that was highlighted by every trainer.

After their initial study and inspiration to create a shoe with a center of balance focus, Mizuno points out that these shoes and their MIZUNO COB were then assessed and validated in collaboration with Biomechanigg Sport & Health Research, which is a company that specializes in evaluating products that are designed for improving efficiency in biomechanics.

Mizuno TC-01 Technical Details

Below, we’ve provided all of the technical details that have been provided for the Mizuno TC-01 and TC-02 from their website and press release.

  • Mizuno C.O.B. Technology: Mizuno COB midsole has a textured upper surface that is linked with the outsole and directly transmits information from the ground to the bottom of the feet.  By increasing sensitivity under foot, Mizuno COBtechnology enables improvement of an athlete’s balance and ultimately their performance.
  • Knit Upper: Completely knit upper construction for a 3 dimensional smooth fit for all types of feet.
