Strongman Tyler Scott Obringer Axle Presses 425 Pounds

If he had added the clean, it would have been the 16th heaviest Axle Clean & Press ever.

If you have not heard of strongman Tyler Scott Obringer, prepare for a stunning lift from an Open competitor who could make some serious noise in 2023. On Jan. 28, 2023, Obringer took to his Instagram page to share a video wherein he locked out a 425-pound axle press featuring the Apollon Wheels overhead.

While the lift is not a typical competition movement, as most sanctioned strongman contests will feature an Axle Clean & Press rather than just a max Axle Press, it is still in range of some of the greatest overhead presses in the record books. Before we dive into how Obringer’s lift stacks up against those top lifts in history, check out his lift in the video below. He wore wrist wraps and a lifting belt and utilized a suicide grip:

According to Strength Results, Obringer’s Axle Press would be the 16th heaviest of all time if he had also cleaned the bar — of course, it would be a training lift (unofficial), not an official record as it occurred outside of competition. Below are the all-time heaviest Axle Clean & Presses:
