The 2021 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) The Bucked Up Showdown took place on Sept. 25, 2021, in Kansas City, MO. It hosted some of the greatest performances in the history of powerlifting with a bevy of world records shattered in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions.

In the 100-kilogram weight class, Joe Sullivan scored a new all-time raw squat world record of 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds) to best his previous record scored nearly one year prior. John Haack set a new all-time world record total in the 90-kilogram weight class of 1,005.5 kilograms (2,216 pounds) — more weight than the highest totals in the two weight classes above him — and included bench press and deadlift world records. Tamara Walcott broke Sara Schiff‘s all-time raw deadlift world record in the Superheavyweight division by a kilogram and a half — 288.5 Kilograms (636 Pounds). Check out the full results of the 2021 WRPF The Showdown below:

The Power of Lifts

There were many big names in the sport at the 2021 WRPF The Buckle Up Showdown that posted excellent results without breaking any world records. Blake Lehew in the 82.5-kilogram class and Jamal Browner in the 110-kilogram class stand out as they won their categories with monstrous totals and have show a tenacity for record-breaking lifts in the past.

Brianny Terry competed in the 82.5 kilogram class and scored a massive win — a move up in weight class as she normally competes at 75-kilograms. She actually scored an unofficial world record deadlift in training in that category leading up to this event so we’ll have to keep our eyes glued to her next contest to see if the shift to 82.5 kilograms lasts.

The powerlifting world will certainly remember this event for years to come as Haack’s performance is one of the best ever. The ongoing rivalry for the top of the podium between him and Penson seems to heat up with every event they compete in and The Buckle Up Showdown was no exception.
