The all-time world record holder in the raw deadlift at 110 kilograms is at it again. On March 13, 2023, powerlifter Jamal Browner published a video on his Instagram page wherein he locked out a 426.4-kilogram (940-pound) deadlift raw in a conventional stance.
This is not the first time Browner has pulled an elite strongman-sized deadlift in the gym, nor will it be his last, as he expects to score a new personal record, according to his post’s caption. Check it out below:
Browner wore flat shoes and a lifting belt and used an overhand hook grip. At no point during the rep did it seem like Browner struggled as the bar path was smooth off the floor, past the knees, and to the lockout.
Another all-time deadlift world record holder, France’s Nabil Lahlou, who competes in the 67.5-kilogram weight category, chimed in the comments, “That was your best conventional all time.” Lahlou is correct. Browner has progressively improved his conventional deadlift for the past handful of years.
In February 2022, Browner conventionally pulled past the 900-pound milestone when he cleared a 410-kilogram (904-pound) barbell. One month later, he tacked on an additional 10 kilograms to his then PR, locking out 420 kilograms (926 pounds) and declaring his “application to the 1,000-pound club.”
That PR didn’t last more than a week as Browner proved he had more left in the tank. On March 22, 2022, he loaded a barbell with 432.5 kilograms (953.5 pounds) and finally showed a semblance of his human form as he had to grind to the top. Despite that, a new PR was recorded. It lasted longer than the other PRs but eventually fell, and Browner is still venturing toward that 1,000-pound pull.

Browner is already deadlifting weights like a top strongman on the Giants Live circuit at much lower body weight. He’s a deadlift world record holder, and doesn’t seem like slowing down is of interest to him. When he joins the 1,000-pound club, it will be remarkable despite expected.
